Basic Troubleshooting Update Your Video Card Drivers The most common cause of this error is out of date or corrupted video card drivers. Please make sure your video card drivers are up to date. You may also consider reinstalling your video card drivers if the game previously worked correctly on the same hardware you are using now. Detailed instructions on the best method for updating or reinstalling video drivers can be found in the Updating Drivers Guide. Check Your Video Settings If you are using advanced features such as anti-aliasing, motion blur or HDR, try changing the setting recommended by the game engine to something lower in order to test the issue. For example, if you are currently using "Anisotropic Filtering 2x", try setting it to "Trilinear Filtering" and see if there is a difference in stability. All of these options can be found in the "advanced" section of your video settings in the game's menu. Check Your Firewall Settings If there are multiple instances of Steam.exe, HL2.exe or any other executable files related to Source games, these all need to be given permission in your firewall. To ensure that your firewall is correctly configured for Steam, please follow the Using a Firewall with Steam guide. Verify Your Game Cache Files Note: the following instructions will result in the deletion of your config and save game files. It is strongly recommended that you backup your game files before attempting these instructions. The easiest way to backup these files is to copy the SteamApps folder to a different location on your hard drive. Log out and exit Steam. Delete the folder for the game you are experiencing the crash in, located in the Steam folder by default. For example: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\( Steam account name )\team fortress 2 Once th

I hope this section will lead to an answer. I think it's a windows problem, but https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5204-UOSN-9830 I'm not sure how to fix it. When I try to play HL Source, or HL2, it crashes at the loading screen with this error " Internal driver error In IDirect3DDevice:resent()" I am using cat 6.4 drivers, and the latest directX available from MS. I googled, and found lots of people with the same thing. Some recommended re installing DX9 but when I tried, I got a message that I http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=227134 was current, and it wouldn't install. Any ideas? I'm hoping to resolve this without re installing my games. The smiley appeared by accident. the error has 4 dots in a square pattern. Try clicking "Delete Local Content" on the Steam Game List when you right click the game listed. Then try running it, it should re-download and fix any errors you are receiving unless this is a client side error. I have experienced things like this through Steam though. The first time I loaded this game up it locked up and i was granted a continuous sound loop with no access to half life the task manager to close the program. Cue hard reset. I then loaded the game up and decided to click New Game straight away instead of changing the controls. The loading bar went filled and then about 50% of the way through the game minimised itself and i get presented with the following error message: Internal Driver Error in IDirect3DDevice9 :Present() half life 2 I immediately thought driver problem! So I installed the latest ATI catalyst drivers and reloaded the game. This time and everytime I try to load the game now I get the above error when loading the initial game menu screen. Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? Anyone had the same problem? I googled the error message and was granted with some people who had the same trouble with Half Life 2: Episode 1 so maybe it's a problem with the source engine? Any help on this would be much appreciated. I walk up the stairs and the game crashes. It says"Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()"but the game hasn't crashed prior to this. I know that says there's a problem with my Device Driver, but SysReqLabs said that my computer met the minimum requirements for the orange box (the only thing that it didn't meet for max was the graphics card).is there anything I can do, or do I have to go out and shell out cash for a new graphics card? :\Friends don't let friends be leaf fans.User Info: WesternEyedWesternEyed 8 years ago#2Try this:https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5204-UOSN-9830Signature for user 'WesternEyed' will be shown pending approval by Homeland Security.User Info: Jaybone_05Jaybone_05 8 years ago#3Same thing is happening to me, since yesterday.I already beat this game awhile ago, when Orange Box first came out.
