Windows on Parallels Desktop 6 For Mac, I keep getting the following message: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An error occurred while accessing the Hard Disk 0 used by "WinXP". Click Retry to try again or click Stop virtual hard disk 0 has wrong access permissions to forcibly stop the virtual machine. If this error persists, please contact the Parallels support team for assistance. Note: If you stop the virtual machine "WinXP" now, you will lose all unsaved data. Error ID: PRL_ERR_DISK_WRITE_FAILED (80021027), errno=5 (Input/output error). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My recollection is that this started after I tried to compress the disk which I don't think completed. Reported it via ticket Parallels #1148601 Is there a work around/fix the virtual hard disk 0 has wrong access permissions or is used with another virtual machine. for this issue? -Sunil SunilJP, May 24, 2011 #1 JodyW Messages: 1 Resolved? Hi, did you resolve this? Thanks JodyW, Jul 1, 2011 #2 manfredell Messages: 109 I get the same error now. Haven't been able to fix it even restoring the VM from a good backup, which was working at that time. manfredell, Jul 2, 2011 #3 SunilJP Messages: 2 Here is what Parallels Support recommended. The first set of instructions worked for me. YMMV. 1. Launch Parallels Desktop => do not start the Virtual machine. 2. Click on the "Window" option on the top menu bar => click on Virtual machine list. 3. Right click (ctrl+click) on the "Windows XP" => click on Configure => hardware tab => select "boot order". 4. Now, to the right pane you will have an option (a box) "boot flag", please add the following boot flag: devices.hdd.error = 1 5. Click OK. (Please perform these steps on both Virtual Machine that is Windows XP and 7) Please refer the below given link to get to the boot order: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v6/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/22237.htm If the issue persists then please perform the below given steps: Step 1: 1. Please click on the link given and uninstall parallels desktop completely: http://k

I did this to follow the Apple tech's advice on keeping up with the updates to keep my now 3 year old computer running smoothly. Well, now I cannot use the Parallel Desktop nor can I print or find the printer I uninstalled to reinstall as advised on this forum....So I keep reading and hope to find my fix. =D Reply With Quote 12-13-2014,03:36 http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=319201 PM #2 harryb2448 View Profile View Forum Posts Member Since Nov 28, 2007 Location Nambucca Heads Australia Posts 22,398 Specs:Imac 27", 3.3GHz, 512 flash storage, 16GB memory, macOS Sierra. G'day and welcome to the forums. Regarding Parallels, try booting up and immediately holding down the Option key. That will advise what is available on your MBP to boot from. Hopefullly your Parallels will appear alongside OS X.10 and Recovery. For your printer, go into System Preferences > Print & Scan and hit the little (-) button under the printer list in the left hand pane. If the pane is locked click on the padlock and enter your admin password. Then with the printer connected via USB, and powerd up, hit the little (+) button and it should appear in the left hand pane Keep us posted if further problems Diana? Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
