Similar threads: I have looked for similar threads and did find one but cannot now find it.It seemed to suggest there might have been a malware problem. I have a Dell Zino running Windows 7 Ultimate 64. I got it second hand with Windows 7 already loaded - no recovery disc, product codes or Windows 7 disc. May 30, 2011 Messages: 9 My laptop had been working just fine up until three days ago. I was listening to bad disk partition wizard music on it before I left the house. I return two hours later and start it up and I get the Windows Recovery Error. I then get two choices: Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/498989/is-my-hard-drive-dead-problem-signature-07-bad-disk/ Both choices lead to startup repair. It searches for problem then states that the problem could not be automatically solved. The diagnosis and and repair log say root cause found: bad hard disk. What was the exact wording of the message and error log? A new drive may not be needed at this point, but hopefully all your files are backed up. Run chkdsk /r on the drive.
