Gepubliceerd op 7 dec. 2013this occured when trying to swap my 1 terabyte to a 128gb SSD onto my hp envy m4 1115dxi. resolved this issue by first using the original hard drive, going into start menu (esc), choosing bios menu, and under boot option, enable "legacy support" and on bottom, use the f6 to move up internal cd/dvd rom as the 1st on list. put in your SSD, with windows 7/8 CD, and now it will boot off of the cd rom!here is link to manual of how to get to the hard drive and open it:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/... I say "yet old" because the hard drive was manufactured in 2008. But boot device not it was still factory sealed. I just opened it. This new hard drive is a Seagate. SATA. 3.5" Barracuda. 1TB. 32MB cache. 7200 RPG. All the exact same as the original hard drive that my computer came with when I first bought it. I was told that this hard drive would still work, and that I just had to do a couple things differently in order for my computer to acknowledge it. My computer is a Windows 7. Every time I turn it on, it goes to a black screen with a bunch of random information about patents, and a blinking cursor following the words "Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed". When I start up while holding the F2 button, it goes the System Diagnostics screen. This is some of what it says.... Product: p7-1108p Testing: CPU CPU Test - Passed Hard Drive Connection Test - Passed Boot Test - Failed Error Code 3F0 Memory Test - Passed So apparently the hard drive is connected properly. But why isn't it booting? Why can't my computer recognize it? Update: @Chris Ancor, But how do I get my computer to read the Windows 7 installation discs? Even when I put one in and start up the computer, it doesn't go to the disc menu. Update 2: I once again solved my own problem. My official Windows 7

It was saying that there was no disk connected. I knew the drive died and I hooked it up to my laptop thru usb adapter from an external casing to copy the files. When "connected" in computer management (I'm using Windows 7), it says device is not connected or something and needs to be initialized. When I try to initialize the disk, it says device not ready or something.I try to leave the disk off to prevent further damage that's why I'm not exactly sure how the messages were worded. I'm sure it needed initializing and that it said it wasn't ready. Is there a way to copy the files from the hard drive? The files are very important. Does it make noises or similar?Try with R-Studio or Get data Back to scan the drive. _________________ www.facebook.com/PCLAB.Assistencia.Tecnica Top gavsiu Post subject: Re: Recovering files from damaged hard drive (3f0 error)Posted: September 10th, 2010, 4:27 Joined: September 10th, 2010, 1:07Posts: 6Location: Vancouver It keeps clicking when it's trying to connect. Once it appears in computer management (to initialize) it stops clicking.. I don't remember if I can hear it spinning then..The bsod happened out of nowhere. I think she was on Youtube or Photoshop. Can those software scan the drive? It doesn't show up in my computer.
