No Internal Hard Drive Found
Posts: 40 This post has been reported. No, I don't know how. Do you know any guides that show how? Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top LH Posts: 20002 This post has been reported. Turn the machine off completely. Unplug everything. Turn the laptop upside down, and remove the battery. On the side where the mic and speaker sockets are, look for 2 screws that hold the drive in. Unscrew those, and pull it out (to the the side), then put it back. Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top Darkness169 Posts: 40 This post has been reported. Sounds easy :O I'll try that right now. Either the drive broke, or the connector between drive and the motherboard broke (or came loose) or something on the motherboard broke. To check if the drive is broken, remove the drive and try to use it with another computer. E.g.. plug in in as an extra drive in a desktop, use an external USB case or use a HDD dock like these: To try to solve the middle problem, remove the drive from the laptop and reconnect it. This is called 'reseating the drive`. If the drive works fine in a dock or in another computer then it is likely a problem with the laptop. Try using another drive and see if it also fails (it probably will give the same problem) so you can confirm this. If it is then check if the laptop is still under warranty. share|improve this answer answered Apr 27 '13 at 20:49 Hennes 50.9k776121 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote If you haven't used the machine before, and it is causing this kind of problem, you should return it to the seller. share|improve this answer answered Apr 2

Ensure the connectors are in firmly. If it still can't physically find it the drive might have failed. share|improve this answer answered Jan 23 '14 at 10:04 Matthew Williams 3,69281532 if that works, does that indicate that the drive is close to failing? –mcmillab Oct 2 at 23:31 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote This error can occur if the laptop was bumped hard enough to dislodge the drive connection internally. Often removing and reinserting the drive can solve the issue. Always turn off and unplug the computer when performing these tasks. On page 25 of the service manual are instructions to remove the hard drive. To reinstall the drive, reverse the steps. If the error continues, it is possible the drive has failed. share|improve this answer answered Jan 23 '14 at 14:58 CharlieRB 17.5k33168 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Reseat the drive means - Removing and then reinstall. You need to unplug the cables and remove it completely and then re connect it again so its detectable, Or you can seek help from a repair shop. If you have already done reseating and If it's then found, run a full diagnostic (F12 at powerup). But if it's not found or detected by the computer after reseat then its busted. You can get your previous data back just by contacting the The repair providers. If you CAN see the drive but not boot from it, remove it, Mount it in a 2.5" external drive case
