Will formatting remap the bad sectors and is it safe to use or getdataback ntfs should I throw it away? The exact error is "The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, has a bad block.." GetDataBack reports it as an error 23. The drive is a WD Raptor. The only cure is to replace the hard drive. It may be possible to recover most of your data though. Share Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Is there any software and/or technique that *might* help me reclaim the data on those sectors? Or are hard drive error those sectors lost forever? I was looking at Norton Utilities and other similar utilities, but it wasn't clear that they could do this. Thanks.
