This discussion is locked s01705661 Level 1 (0 points) Q: Error Code -1309 when copying large file I'm trying to back up a large (about 5.5GB) video (.mkv) file on to my external hard drive. It copies completely but once it is finished I get a message saying "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error Code -1309)"I've searched for Error Code -1309 which always leads to Error Code -36, which sounds like a similar error but none of those solutions have solved the problem. The video works when run from the internal hard disk, so the file isn't corrupted.I can't cut the video into smaller pieces because I don't have video editing software that runs .mkvI have a MacBook (Late 2006) MA699xx/A with Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Cheers, MA699 (Late 2006), Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger Posted on Mar 31, 2010 8:26 AM I have this question too Close Q: Error Code -1309 when copying large file All replies Helpful answers by Limnos, Limnos Mar 31, 2010 9:05 AM in response to s01705661 Level 9 (54,543 points) Mac OS X Mar 31, 2010 9:05 AM in response to s01705661 Hard drive connection? It seems that Fat 32 can only transfer up to 4 gb at once or per file. So heres my question, is there anyway around this? Can i split the file then put them together once they are on the drive? You can split files for the sake of storage, but they will need to be reconnected on a HFS+ volume to be used. Surely nobody would ever have a single file that big??
