Posts: 8 "Pro Tools Application has stopped working" I installed Pro Tools 9, and for several days, it was loading. I was having http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/error_message/en342639 issues with recording, but no problems loading, saving and retrieving projects, etc. I turned off the external Firewire disk where I had been storing Pro Tools projects. When I tried to start Pro Tools, I got "Pro Tools Application has stopped working". I have: 1) Turned the Firewire drive back on. 2) Uninstalled and re-installed Pro tools I continue http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=301876 to get that message. Pro Tools itself is on drive C. I have read other posts about this message, but given how my problem originated, and the fact that Pro Tools previously loaded okay, I doubt the solutions there address my problem. Any thoughts will be appreciated. With a desktop system, adding internal SATA drives is easy, cheap, and yields the best performance. Windows 7/PT9 users should not be recording to firewire drives. You should go either USB2(because of Win7 drivers) or internal(again, the best performance....and cheapest route). I run 4 in

I have Pro Tools LE 7.4 with Mbox2 mini and Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 and suddenly I could not launch the Pro Tools application and got following error message: "Pro Tools application has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." After research online I found out that the problem could be "Internet Explorer 8", if this has been installed on your computer. So I removed my Internet Explorer 8 and I could open Pro Tools again! :o) Just thought I wanted to share this with others suffering with same problem. Here is little guide on how to remove Internet Explorer 8 from your computer: Windows Vista: 1) Click on "Start" 2) Choose "Control Panel" 3) Choose "Programs" ("Programs and Features" in classic view) 4) Click "View Installed Updates" 5) Locate "Windows Internet Explorer 8" and select it 6) Click "Uninstall" from the top of the window Follow the on screen instructions to complete the Removal Process.
