Unfortunately, HDD regenerator froze in the middle of the work and I have to restart the computer. If I took it out, everything works fine. I tried this with two separate systems.Here are the things I've tried:1. Spin Rite. Sometimes it works a few minutes (an hour or so is the longest) before it displays the message again. It hadn't done that before apart from when I was trying to overclock (Currently running stock) After I tried to restart it hdd regenerator would go past the post but never start displaying the Win7 loading screen or come up with the safemode menu. I used an XP disk to try and get to the recovery console and run a checkdisk but it bluescreened then also. I tried using a BartsPE disk and it also BSOD with the same error message. After a bit of checking, all the indication seemed to point to it being an error that occurs when you install Win7 on a SATA drive is not drive set to IDE in the BIOS but then have set it to AHCI later (Which was odd as it has ALWAYS been set to AHCI) After trying all of this I again tried to boot into Win7 but says "A Disk Read Error" occurred ever time. BartsPE will boot to the main screen but the start menu never loads so I can't do anything and the WinXP disk loads the setup files but then freezes at the bit where it "examines" the drives. I checked the bios again and this time it couldn't see the HDD, after forcing it to detect, it was found but the size was jumping between about 60GB and 120GB. I was pretty sure the HDD was screwed by this time but I've got a program called HDD Regenerator that I use on broken hard-drives with a lot of success - normally it's just one or two bad sectors that are causing all the problems near the start of the drive and running a scan with HDD Regen fixes it. However it keeps freezing up when scanning or saying "Hard Drive is not ready" after about 70MB into the scan. However in that first 70MB or so alone it detected over 130 bad sectors! I'm very much certain the drive is FUBAR but is there anything obvious I'm missing - I'm getting hold of my Win 7 install disk today and going to try a repair install and a fixboot/

Hard Drive Regenerator (and its competitor Spinrite) can do "magic" with a lot of drive errors; but simply can't fix everything. You COULD try Spinrite on the same drive -- they use slightly different algorithms, so there's a chance Spinrite will work where HDR won't ... but it's not very likely that's the case. 0 Message Author Comment by:artismobile2012-09-17 Thanks for responding.
