Mostly with CS source, because that's what I play, but iirc I've had it a couple times with vanilla hl2 as well. I've tried my best to search the forums (and google) and not be a n00b. I've read over 30 (no exaggeration) threads that contained the word datacache.dll, in addition to all the standard FAQs etc. I find it horribly frustrating (and slightly amusing in a twisted kind of way) that there seem to be hundreds of people with this problem, with threads going back literally YEARS, and still no solutions. Every thread goes something like this: 1) The question. Quote: hi i'm having this problem of random crashes blah blah datacache.dll hl2.exe 0x0000b423. 2) The "solutions" Quote: -What are your specs? Ok, then: -Did you read the FAQ? (YES) -Did you read the support center guide? (YES) -Did you do a ram test? (YES) -Did you try verifying your GCF cache files? (YES) -Are your video card drivers up to date? (YES) -Is your DirectX up to date? (YES) -Did you t

There's no fix atm, and I believe it is caused by someone forcing HL2 to run with DirectX7 that causes the game to crash. 30th April 2006,20:07 #4 M_C Guest Originally Posted by PunchMRG Or you could try using the search function as this problem has been posted in a number of threads here on the first page. Nope, I run dx9 and I get it sometimes but there are multiple threads about the same thing and kids without any patience. 30th April 2006,21:30 #5 MehMegahurtz Guest Originally Posted by M_C Nope, I run dx9 and I get it sometimes but there are multiple threads about the same thing and kids without any patience. If theres countless threads about it, with no real solution, I'd rather just post a new topic about it rather searching for hours on end for a solution that doesn't exist. Sounding smart and pithy doesn't help a moronic point. 30th April 2006,22:01 #6 ThunderDan Guest Welcome to the forums.
