frustrated enough, I put my cd in the DVD player and it usually works. A new system would probably cost at least $1000. Not sure why a working cd player would be so difficult to make by 2005 (my vehcile). Reply » Report Abuse Judge it! Papahurls Warren, OH #4 Apr 1, 2010 All, Below is from a post I sent to someone 4 years ago with the same problem. My local dealer was willing to repair the unit (out of warranty) for about $400.00. They were going to cd stuck in 2006 honda odyssey ship it out to a repair shop that turned out to be someone I'll mention later. I then purchased an EX radio from bronco_buddy on Ebay for $185.00 plus $15.00 shipping (he knows their value). He generally has a unit up for sale on a regular basis. They are coming from wrecked cars. I checked tonight and there was not one unit for sale. Some joker is trying to pass off a face plate as a dim light solution. Stay away from that one. I then was able to download instructions on how to remove the old unit. It took me about 90 minutes. In fooling around with this nightmare, I discovered that the part that is bad, is inside the head of the unit, not the face plate. It is some kind of transformer. Make sure that if you buy a unit, that it is the exact one for your series (EX, LX, DX), it really makes a difference. A local radio repair thief wanted $286 to repair my old unit and they hadn't even diagnosed the problem. If you have any other questions, drop me another note. I hope this helps! I imagine in a year or two they'll have some kind of recall. I believe that it is an Alpine radio.Later I discovered a guy who repairs them out of Maryland on eBay for about $85 plus shipping.

On a trip back from Maryland I was listening to Cd's, everything was working normally. The next day, none of my discs would play. Most of my discs are purchased, but http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-odyssey/T7RNCPLHJE88HB86C the few that are burned have always played without problems. Every disc, in the 6 disc CD changer now flashes DISC in the display, and then ejects the disc. The radio works fine, as well as all other options in the car, HVAC etc. Fuses are fine. I cant seem to find what the flashing DISC is trying to tell me. I tried blowing compressed air http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/forum/general-tech-help-7/cd-player-disc-error-51187/ into the port as well. My next step is to remove the CD player/radio and try to trouble shoot it. I don't know how to do this once disconnected from the battery, however. My speculation is that either the laser has stopped working, or the motor has burned out or is not spinning at an optimal RPM. Anybody have any experience in this area, or any other ideas/suggestions? There is an 800 number you can call and ask them if they can fix this problem. Also get a quote. I think the price has gone up recently.
