Before I start, I would like to mention that I tried the solution from an expert article "Q_21483635.html", but no luck. We have even opened a case with Microsoft PSS, and its been 10days now without any breakthrough. We have an ISA 2004 Server with Service Pack 2 running on https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21784015/ISA-2004-Error-Code-64-Host-not-available-gives-intermittent-and-random-error.html Windows Server 2003. The problem is explained below.......... When user browse the Web Page. It will open for two or three pages. Intermittently, it will not open, and we need to click refresh for browsing. This happen very often. While checking in ISA logging Query we can see the Allowed user (By checking PC’s IP) as anonymous User and access was denied. If the same User when refreshes the browser they can able to browse and in ISA logging Monitor we are able to see the particular user's login name. April 30, 2010 Leave a comment Recently on migrating to a new platform, we experienced this error: Error Code 64: Host not available This was quite mysterious as it only occured after a https://aberkut.wordpress.com/2010/04/30/error-code-64-host-not-available-solved/ IIS reset, and pressing F5 fixed it. The only error which occured was an exception displayed in the system event log. This read: A process serving application pool ‘
as firewall + proxy + gateway in our network. The ISA's external intreface is connected to Cisco 1605 router with two NICs which in its turn is connected to our ISP. The problem is that we cannot open pages of some (there are several URLs atleast) web sites whereas other sites work perfectly. E.g.: we are unable to open MS Windows update site http://update.microsoft.com we can open http://www.google.com with no any problems The symptom is: after some period of time we see "Error Code 64: Host not available" instead of requested page. If we remove Cisco router and connect ISA directly to ISP everything works fine: no more "host unavailable" messages. But unfortunately we cannot get rid of router. So could anybody advice me what ISA settings I should deal with in order to force our ISA & Cisco to live together??? P.S. I saw some articles at cisco.com about special Windows OS Ndis adapters MTU setup, disabling HTTP 1.1 etc. None of them have helped. 8( === SY, Vlad ... ElMajda replied on 10-Aug-07 04:48 PM Hi, what is your ISA Server NICs configurations ? the Internal & External NIC. -- _____________________________ Tarek Majdalani Computer Engineer, CIW, MCSA: Security 2000/2003, TS: Windows Vista MVP -- ISA Firewalls Website : http://www.elmajdal.net/ISAServer Vla replied on 11-Aug-07 08:50 AM Hi Tarek, I'm not quite sure if I have understood your question about NIC configuration right. But I will try provide you with any information you need in order to get the conclusion (perhaps not in one response). So: Extenal NIC: 3Com 3C460B 10-100 USB LAN Adapter, Bound to TCP\IP only (no NLB, no Microsoft Network Client or any other bindings) IP: 76.106.214.28, Mask: 255.255.255.224, GW: 76.106.214.29, DNS1: 76.107.200.202, DNS2: 76.107.200.200, Append Primary DNS Suffixes: true, Register this connection's addresses in DNS: true, Enable LMHOST lookup: true, NetBIOS stetings: default, TCPIP filtering: off. Internal NIC: Intel 100-Pro VE LAN Adapter Bound to TCP\IP, Microsoft Network Client, File & Printer Sharing, (no NLB) IP: 172.16.30.1, Mask: 255.255.255.0, GW: not set, DNS1: 172.16.30.2 (internal), DNS2: not set, Append Primary DNS Suffixes: true, Register this connection's addresses in DNS: true, Enable LMHOST lookup: true, NetBIOS stetings: default, TCPIP filtering: off. Is that information above you wanted to know? === SY, Vlad ... ElMajda replied on 11-Aug-07 12:22 PM Hi, Yes, this is the info i was looking for. your External NIC is misconfigured, you should never put a DNS Entry on the External NIC, read this article : http://www.
