8, 2010 Messages: 8 Likes Received: 1 On several occasions I have had the HTC Mail app stop syncing my work email from Exchange via ActiveSync. The calendar and contacts sync still appear to work, but mail stops flowing. If I look at the sync settings how to configure exchange mail in android I see that when it tries to process mail a protocol error is reported and the sync

sync to work again with no luck. I've done things like deleting mail from the server around the time the sync stopped working, changing settings to get smaller amounts of email, cut out attachments, etc... none of that fixed the probelm. What has worked http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g/52050-sync-protocol-error-exchange-server.html both times is to delete the exchange account and then re-add it. As soon as I do this, it starts working again. For a while. I expect I will be back in this situation in another week or two. Clearly it's not a problem on the server side or a delete/add of the account on my device would not fix it. Has anyone else run into this and found a better solution than wiping out the account? Have you been able to solve this yet???? Anybody? I've called Verizon. Nothing. HTC. Nothing. What I noticed is that the mail function works. I can see deletes and sents and I can even send email. I just cannot see new email messages in the inbox. I thought it might be Advanced Task Killer. But, I deleted that and had no change. I've hard reset, soft reset -- tried everything. Like you, I simply delete the account and re-create it once or twice each day. I really want to keep this device. Somebody please HELP! After a search through several forums, concluded it's a "known issue" with HTC devices. Deleted my exchange account; recreated it and re-synchronized. Calendar and email came back quickly; had to redo contacts, which, of course, meant I had to redo my speedials and my VIP's, much to my chagrin. Some suggest using Touchdown, however I bristle at paying $20 for software to do what is supposed to come with the phone. If situation persists, will escalate with Verizon (and to HTC Incredible sites). The following configurations are generally the best android exchange email first solutions for troubleshooting an Android-Exchange connection. Caveats All Android devices are not created equal. Although Google is attempting to quell this diversity, many carriers opt to add their own spin on the Android device. To that end, how an Exchange connection is set up on an HTC EVO is not the same way that connection is set up on a Droid Incredible or an AT&T Samsung Captivate. In this post, I will use general concepts that should apply to the full array of Android devices. With that in mind, let's start troubleshooting. Server address I've seen users attempt to set up their Android-Exchange connection using the Exchange OWA address for their company — this will not work. If your company's OWA address is https://mail.company.com/owa, then most likely your Exchange address for your Android device is mail.company.com. Some third-party apps require the OWA address, but the built-in tool does not. Domain The setting that people seem most unsure about is domain. When the Android-Exchange connection is set up, the domain is not a fully qualified domain name (www.techrepublic.com is an example of a fully qualified domain name). A domain in regards to an Exchange setup is a group of computers running that share a central directory database that houses user and other pieces of information necessary for machines to fun
