She has a workstation running Windows XP Prof SP3 and is trying to print to a HP Designjet 500 with 160MB RAM. Whenever she tries to print hp designjet 510 memory upgrade this artwork, she gets the following error message on this printer's LCD: "Warning 71:06 Out of memory Data hp designjet t520 memory upgrade was lost." She has tried the following: Reducing the size of the artwork Printing artwork as a bitmap Using an option labeled "Avoid out of memory" hp printer out of memory error on the Advanced tab in Printing Preferences. Dropping the print quality to Draft Printing to a sheet half the size with scaling set to 200% I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and, if so, found a workaround. The trick is to set the driver to process the job at the computer (which has plenty of memory) and then send the rasterized job to the printer. Go to Printer Properties. Select the Advanced Tab. Check "Start https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/103923-memory-error-while-attempting-to-print-on-a-hp-designjet-500 printing after last page is spooled". That should force the driver to process on the computer first. 0 Jalapeno OP Ronald6982 Jul 7, 2010 at 1:19 UTC Thank you for your quick response Scott. Unfortunately your suggestion has not resolved this issue. This is an extremely frustrating issue. Our graphic artist has also tried converting the file to Adobe's Illustrator 3 format with the same results. Since she recently installed Adobe Creative Suite 5 I suggested that she try recreating the file using Adobe InDesign 5 in hopes that the newer version handles file differently. 0 Tabasco OP Scott Lundberg Jul 7, 2010 at 1:59 UTC I'm sure it's the driver issue, maybe yours needs to be set in a different place. Can you confirm which driver version you are using? I can verify whether it's the same on my end and go through the settings with you.... 0 Jalapeno OP Ronald6982 Jul 7, 2010 at 2:22 UTC I would like to take you up on your offer. I may not be able to glean this information until tonight (remotely). Our graphic artist just came back from vacation and is currently working towards digging out from the pile on her desk. I will post my findings for your review as soon as this information becomes available tonight. We can reconvene tomorrow if your offer still holds. 0 Tabasco OP Scott Lundberg Jul 7, 2010 at 3:27 UTC Of course, no problem. 0 Jalapeno OP Ronald6982 Jul 8, 20

Every time I've come across the "data loss error", that's solved the problem for me. 1 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 7, 2013 at 11:29 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, sorry to read that you are getting the infamous "out of memory - data loss error". HP has a support document entitled, "HP Designjet Printers - Out of Memory Problems" that describes causes of the problem and provides some solutions. Click here. However, I see a similar post on the HP Forum. The solution is the same that member George Baratta gave: "send as bitmap". As you will notice several responses indicate that the solution worked. Thanks very much George. Pieter, at your convenience, let us know if the issue has been resolved. 0 Sonora OP pjs12303 Nov 10, 2013 at 1:11 UTC The issue was resolved with the "send as bitmap" Thanx 0 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 11, 2013 at 2:34 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, thanks for returning to confirm that "send as bitmap" also worked for you. Thanks again, George. 0 Pimiento OP nicholasway Oct 8, 2015 at 10:2
a 430 Kb Microsot Publisher document to the printer. However if I send only part of the document (20 out of 30 pages), it will print.I increased the size of the virtual (paging) memory to 20,000 meg but it doesn't help.Do I need to add memory (RAM) to the printer? Thanks. Respond to this 0 Anyone? by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:16am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 If you're just printing text, reduce the dpi setting in Control Panel to 300dpi. This will virtually quadruple the printer memory. You won't notice the difference in quality. by moe on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:18am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I found this on the HP web site: HP has a Windows Vista driver solution available for your product. This driver will enable your product's basic function to work."Basic function" ?! Does that mean the driver shouldn't be expected to give full functionality to the printer? by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 11:41am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I am printing a document with lots of graphics. I tried 300 dpi but it doesn't look good. by ricksaint on Mar 16, 2009 at 12:04pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I'm fighting this problem as well, just as I fought with 5L when it was connected to an xp box. I'm never going to buy another HP printer again.Seriously, if they don't want to support their old hardware, that's fine by me. But why would they pretend to support 5L in Vista, when they actually don't (as the drivers provided with vista don't work properly)? To me it's lying to customers. by unknown on May 16, 2009 at 9:09am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 You can add more memory to a 5L. There are a few modules available on eBay today. by Stephen on May 17, 2009 at 4:33am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Before you buy more memory, try using the HP6L printer driver on your HP5L, it comes on the XP disc - don't know about Vista though. You should be able to select it from within windows itself. I use it and it works even when using the highest 600 dpi resolution setting.
