the carriage belt, but still the error.Anyone come accross this problem? Respond to this 0 I found this guide on HP's website that may be useful to you.The 86.01 http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/37933 is a carriage movement failure. This could be due to a restriction in the https://www.lpscomputer.com/blogs/news/85251649-designjet-500-800-error-86-01-at-right-end-of-plotter scan axis (carriage axis), a bad encoder strip, or a bad sensor on the carriage. Clean and lubricate the rail first. Turn the printer on, see if the error goes away. Enter service mode. Turn the printer on while holding down the UP ARROW and ENTER keys simultaniously while turning on the printer. Keep holding the buttons hp designjet tilll you hear a beep. Enter SERVICE UTILITIES, then choose UNLOCK CARRIAGE. Turn the printer off, open the top cover, and move the carriage to the middle of the printer. Turn the printer on. If the error comes back, you may have a bad carriage sensor. If this is the case, the carriage would need to be replaced. If the 21:10 error comes up, you may have a bad service hp designjet 500 station. If the carriage moves but stops at one particular place, clean the encoder strip and inspect for damage. Unlock the carriage, turn the plotter off and move the carriage assembly back and forth by hand and see if it moves smoothly or has any "bumps." I have seen many where a small portion of the belt comes loose and wraps itself around the motor shaft causing a bumping action and occasional path sutdowns. I believe somewhere in my the menu you can perform a carriage movement test. If that is ok, I would lean towrds the serivce station. by dmzcompute on Apr 24, 2006 at 2:07pm Add comment Please sign in to

The plotter got about 90+% complete printing the test plot on the gloss paper(image attached). The plotter did not cut the paper. Then it showed Error 86:01. I reviewed the job, your video and other videos trying to help with this error code. Things I’ve done. Lubricated the drive rod Removed and cleaned the cutter head. Its seems to move ok, but I don’t know how much resistance should be when sliding this part. The bushing moves smooth on the rod, but seems stiff once cutter is installed. Gone into the Service menu and performed paper feed check and that passes. Cleaned the Encoder tape/ribbon with soft cloth. Vacuumed out the service bay area. When I plug the unit into power this is what happens. (note, I have sent a video via wetransfer.com showing the startup) Carriage travels to left and touches the cutter. The cutter is not pulled out. Carriage returns to the service bay and then backs out to left. The service bay performs some type of cycle. The carriage then returns to service bay and error code app
