I do not save any TM back ups to them and they work after a restart and then sometime later start to provide the error message anytime I try to save to them. A restart usually fixes the issue for a finite period of time. Disk Utility runs and tells me the disks are fine. I never have trouble accessing data from them. The printer automatically begins a 05 SELF TEST after power on and then displays a "50 Service" code. Seeing that most 50 error codes are fuser related and I had never replaced the fuser or even serviced the printer before this, I assumed that the fuser was the issue. I ordered a maintenance kit http://printertechsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?2534-Laserjet-4-error-code-quot-50-Service-quot-help and replaced it. It went through the 05 SELF TEST and 02 WARMING UP mode and then I heard a click. Now I still get the "50 Service" error code again. Turning the printer off for 15 minutes does not fix the problem. This is not identified in my book or on your website. It must be more serious than just a fuser related issue. Any Suggestions as to what a "50 Service" code means? The power supply makes logic voltages and supplies 110 volts for the fuser. The "50 Service" can mean that the fuser is not warming up or that it has overheated. Is there any way you can get these fusers into another LJ 4 to test them? If you have a meter you could check for 110VAC fuser voltage at the power supply. The connector is in the front end of the supply. Remove the plastic side cover and whatever sheet metal to get at the front end of the supply and check for 110VAC at J102. There must be a r

A 50 service error indicates a problem with the fuser assembly, this is the part of the printer that fuses (melts) the error hp laserjet toner into the media. It consists of a heated roller or film and a pressure roller along with drive gears and sensors. It is subject to mechanical wear and thermal degradation. Most newer models have solid state thin film heating elements rather than the halogen lamps in older machines. These heating elements are subject to failure from burned resistive heating paths and fractures of the ceramic substrate material. There are typically two sensing elements, a thermal fuse to prevent catastrophic overheating, and a thermistor to provide feedback to the heating circuit and indicate when to turn the heating current on or off. It is important that replacement fusers use proven and tested replacement materials. Our remanufactured fusers use first quality replacement parts and ISO 9000 standards in the remanufacturing process. 50 Service errors can also be related to the power supply or control circuits. In many machines the fuser is a maintenance item and the major component of a maintenance kit. You can Self maintain your printer and save. A fuser error has occurred. X Description 1 - low fuser temper-50 in OS X when deleting or moving files 10 Replies Despite its user-friendly interface, OS X sometimes gives no more information than an error code when something goes wrong. One of these is error code -50, which may occur when you attempt to copy, move, or delete files from external hard drives. If this occurs and you are stuck with a file you cannot manage, then you can likely overcome this error with a few possible approaches. 1. Check your drive with Disk Utility First, ensure the drive's formatting is OK, by usingĀ Disk Utility to run a verification routine on the storage volume that contains the file. To do this, select the volume in Disk Utility's sidebar, and then go to the First Aid tab and click Verify Disk. If any errors show up (text in red), then use the Repair button to fix them. 2. Unmount and re-mount your drive As a general and less-intrusive approach, you can also try ejecting your drive, followed by unplugging it. Then reboot your system, and then plug your drive in again. When it mounts, try managing the file on it. 3. Rename the file One quick solution to this problem, suggested by MacIssues reader Matt, is to try renaming the file. Give it a general name like "myfile.txt" and confirm that you want to change the file extension (or even remove it). Then attempt to move or delete the file using the OS X Finder, and hope for success. 4. Use the Terminal to manage the file TheĀ Finder moves files using more checks and restrictions that Terminal commands, so you might have better luck moving or deleting the file using the Terminal. To delete the file, type "rm -f " followed by a single space, then drag the file to the Terminal window and press Enter. If the Terminal states the file cannot be deleted because you do not have permissions, then run the command "sudo !!" (the word "sudo" followed by a space and then two exclamation points) to re-run the prior command while prefixing it with "sudo" so it will run as administrator. Enter your password when prompted (it will not show when typed), and the command should now successfully run. To move the file instead of deleting, perform the following steps in the Terminal: Type "mv " followed by a single space. Drag the problematic file from the Finder to the Terminal window (its path should be entered). Similarly drag the destination folder to the Terminal window. Press Enter to execute
