Hp Laserjet 4000 Error 13.20 Paper Jam
There is no real paper jam that I can see. What gives?Greybeard Respond to this 0 Sounds like you may have

a selenoid flapper issue. Try printing from the manual feeder and see if it exhibits the same behavior. If it prints ok from the manual feeder, then the issue is probably the selenoid which

controls the movement of the paper tray pickup unit. There is a selenoid with a "L" shaped arm which sits in a opening in the gear assembly and prevents it from moving. When a print job is sent, the arm is attracted to the center of the selenoid by an electrical charge which magnatizes the center of the selenoid. As the gear starts to turn power is turned 13.1 paper jam open input trays off and the "L" arm returns against the gear assembly and when the opening is reached it stops the gear movement. They used a velcro type material to dampen the noise of the "L" arm hitting the center of the selenoid. That material over time disintegrates and all that is left is the glue which held it. So somtimes the "L" arm goes to the center and when power is turned off it stays there sticking with the glue and does not return and stop the paper movement. Easy to fix, but hard to get to. All you have to do is clean off the glue residue and put a piece of electrical tape over the spot and it will work like new. It is located on the right side of the feeder unit and you have to split the printer into two parts so as to have access to the feeder unit and removal of the feeder unit cover. by dmzcompute on Dec 4, 2006 at 7:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Hey! Just want to mention that the sticky "L" shaped solenoid arm on the Tray 2 was the problem behind our LaserJet 4100N errors. The pr
fitted a maintenance kit (tranfer roller, fuser, pickup rollers & separation pads) but no joy. There are no jams, and printing from every other hp laserjet 4000 paper jam tray is fine. Can anybody tell me what it might be? The tray is set hp laserjet 4000 paper jam rear door to A4 and the guides are all in place correctlyAny help would be great - thanks! Respond to this 0 You need hp laserjet 4000 error codes to do some more diagnosing to narrow down the issue. First thing I would do is remove the separation roller in the paper tray and then remove the backfeed clutch which sits behind the roller. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/43012 Now put the roller back on even though it is loose and slides around. Now try to pickup from tray 3. If it works and I think it may, you need to remove some of the magnetic filings from the clutch. Real easy to do. Just hit the small shaft of the clutch on a hard surface real hard and the clutch will separate. Now use a cloth to remove http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/35870 about 1/2 of the filing from the shaft. Reassemble, put the clutch on the shaft followed by the separation roller and you should be good to go. If this does not work, then you may have an actual issue with the pickup assembly of the tray 3 unit. To check this you need to look from the rear with a flashlight to see if you can see the 4 half moon rollers turning when you send a print job. If they do not turn, you may have a broken bellhousing which attaches the shaft to the pickup unit. There should also be a spring on one side of the 4 half moon shaft which springs it back to the correct position each time. If that spring has come off that would effect the ability to pickup paper. by dmzcompute on Feb 5, 2006 at 9:08am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 check if there is any paper stuck in the slot between trays 2 and 3 by Anonymous on Feb 7, 2006 at 10:14am Add comment Please sign in to comment Please sign in to comment HP LaserJet 5100 Buy discount ink Buy this printer More HP questions © Copyright 2011-2016, FixYourOwnPrinter.com, Inc. One feed roller is in the cassette tray and the other is right above it in the printer cavity. The next thing would be to check the paper in the tray. Sometimes when users add paper the bottom sheet curls up between the paper and the front of the hp laserjet machine causing the remaining paper in the tray to not lift properly as the paper supply is removed. If the paper seems fine then turn the machine around and remove the dust cover if it has one. This allows us, with a flashlight, to watch the pick up assembly as it goes through its process. If while watching you notice that the paper feeds up an inch or two then moves back a half-inch before feeding into the machine all the way we know we probably hp laserjet 4000 have a problem with the black torque limiter in the cassette tray. You can replace the limiter (part# RB1-8974) with a new one or pull it apart and remove a little of the metal filings inside the limiter. Don't remove all the filings. Reinstall and watch again from the back. The paper should be moving correctly. Additionally, watch the four half-moon pick up rollers (part# for the 4100 RB1-8957) (part# for the 4000 RB1-8865) and make sure they are only moving when needed and getting back to the home position. There is a spring on the left side of the pick up roller shaft that pulls the pick up shaft to make sure the half-moon rollers are facing up when the machine is not functioning. If you notice that the feed rollers are facing down at a ready state, make sure the spring is attached. On the right side is the drive coupler, which is shaped like a black plastic dumbbell (part# RB1-8877). Make sure its in place and not cracked. When this HP printer model was first introduced I was replacing two or three of these a week until HP made some changes to the paper tray to limit the amount of paper that could be installed. The last thing to do would be replace the pick up assembly Tray 2, 250 sheet (part# RG5-2672); Tray 3, 250 sheet (part# RG5-2684); Tray 3, 500 sheet (part# RG5-2672); Tray 2 for the 4100 (part# RG5-5277). I just replaced one the other day that was jamming every
