card or the port that the card is in. This can be as simple as doing a power down restart. Other methods to fix this error is to try the card in a different EIO cardslot. Sometimes the controller card can stop working and changing slots can be a fix. If hp laserjet 4600 transfer kit those dont work it is most likely the EIO card has gone bad and will need a replacement. If you try another known good card in the machine the controller card may be bad and will likely be the same cost to replace that card as replacing the entire printer (if nothing is left on warranties). Master 1,088 Answers Re: 81.0180 EIO 1 error On the back of the printer where the network cable is plugged in, in your case it is EIO slot 1.The problem could be the slot(EIO 1) or the JetDirect card that is plugged into that slot.Power down and loosen the two screws on the JetDirect card and reseat it. Power up and try using the printer. If the error persists, power down and remove the JetDirect and plug it into EIO 2.There are two screws that hold the EIO cover on. Power up and try the printer. If it works, take the two screws and the cover and use it to cover EIO 1. And you are good to go. If it fails again with a 81.02, the JetDirect may need changing Posted on Nov 02, 2011 Helpful 7 Not Helpful 1 Comment Flag Joseph Sliker Nov 09, 2015 Here I've been thinking the 615n card on my 4600 was getting flakey. I've unmounted and reseated it several times in the same slot, (even baked the card a couple times). This solution may have d

I pray yours is not the same problem as we found with this one. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/26390 The developer disengaging plate on the left side of the printer has stripped teeth. It's like a https://www.marketpoint.com/82-eio-error-hp-laserjet-46xx.aspx rack on a rack and pinion steering gear. The rack is stripped. It's a buger to get to also. Am ordering a new one and hope to put in tomorrow or the next day. No,the 4600 color laser is not one of the worst you can buy. In fact,I work on many color lasers and this is a very good product. But the service person needs to know what to look for when troubleshooting color problems.First, lets start with the basic troubleshooting. Print out a configuration page and tell me what the printer number is. It will say something like 1D or 3C. hp laserjet 4600 This tells us what firmware level the DC controller is. If it is old you will be able to get it covered by HP because there are known issues involved with older firmware and they should place a call for you that is covered whether your printer is under warranty or not.Second, ask the service man if he went in and did at least two color calibrations through the control panel. If not I can help you do this.Third, there are four colored 90 degree anges in each corner of the cofiguration page. These are your color calibration marks. You will see one yellow, one magenta, one cyan and one black. If these are not equal distance from each other or are overlapping then you have serious calibration issue with your colors. This can also be fixed.Print out a event log and tell me if there are any errors. These color lasers will not display calibrations errors on the control panel but they will be in the event log.Let us know what the printer number is.I will get back to you and tell you what the latest should be.If it is below revision and you are having the problems that you are having HP may pay to send a tech out to replace the DC controller. These are not flashable ( software donload) so a board haves to be replaced and color calibrations have to be done. Many of these boards have been replaced for other problems but one of the new fixes in this firmware are for new color calibration measurements
