Since http://www.woodcentral.com/woodworking/forum/archives.pl/bid/1107/md/read/id/345118/sbj/ot-hp-photosmart-3210-ink-system-failure/ replacing all 6 ink cartridges, about 4 months ago, with a few new HP cartridges but others which are HP compatible, my HP 3210 hasn't worked. I get an error message0xc18a0106. I believe the cause of the problem may be that the power cable was disconnected, when it was still switched on. Since then it hasn't worked. Im running Windows XP SP3. I am faced with purchasing a new hp photosmart printer, if i cannot get it up and running. This is what I have done: If you get an error message on your printer screen (HP Photosmart C5180) which says " 0xc18a0106 ink system failed ", you'll need to carry out a Master Reset on the printer. Something usually causes the error to occur and this is usually a failed microchip, out of date chip or interruption when installing a new cartridge and this will have to be rectified before continuing. Most problems are usually from the last cartridge inserted, so start by replacing that cartridge. You will also need to have all cartridges with some ink in them or you'll need to replace any empty ones before continuing. Once the problem cartridge has been replaced, keep it as it may still be ok to use at a later date once the error has been reset. To reset the printer: 1- Unplug the USB cable from the printer. 2- Press the On/Off button to turn off the printer, unplug the power lead from the printer, press and hold both the "OK" button and the "HELP" button, then plug in the power lead, wait a few seconds and release the two buttons, then press the "On" button. Your printer will now initialise and you'll need to follow the on-screen instructions and choices on the printer. This may take several minutes to complete. Your error code should now have disappeared and you will now be able to Copy and Print. 3- Replug the USB cable from the printer. It worked with me...Wish it will

Posted By: Dominic Greco in Richboro PA Date: 12/25/2007, 12:35pm Dominic Greco in Richboro PA >Hi everyone, Please forgive the OT nature of this post. Even thought this is a woodworking forum, I've found that we have such a diverse community here that I can post questions like this one. I'm hoping that if I don't get an answer, that someone here can point me in the direction of where I can get one. I have a HP Photosmart 3210 All in One Printer that is just under a year old. It was installed on my wife's computer and was working quite nicely until 2 weeks ago when it started giving her some grief right after she ran out of ink. I believe that part of the problem was she was turning it off incorrectly (these USB printers like to have the computer turned off before they are). I purchased HP refills and replaced the empty ones. It was at that time I first noticed this error message coming up on the printers screen: Ink System has failed. Unable to print, fax, or copy. Refer to printer doc. Error: 0xc18a0501 Since I could not get it to work promptly, I gave her my old printer to use and installed the HP Photosmart on my computer. The troubleshooting section of the printer documentation had nothing on this error (Typical). When I went to HP's web site and Searched on the phrase "Ink System Failure", I found a small troubleshooting doc about this error. I was told to: Press the On button to turn the printer off Unp
