get the web server connector working after applying update 14. We did our investigation and following is our finding. The connector binaries of ColdFusion 10 update 14 are built on top of VC++ runtime 2012 update 4. Installation of VC++ runtime requires http 500 internal server error iis7 admin privileges. If the ColdFusion service runs as administrator or system account, the update itself install

the VC++ runtime as this account would have installation privileges. If your ColdFusion service account is not running as administrator or system account, applying the http 500 internal server error internet explorer hotfix from administrator can't install VC++ runtime and you will get "500 internal server error" after configuring the connector. In this case, you need to manually install VC++ runtime 2012 32-bit and/or 64 bit depending on whether Web server is 32-bit http 500 internal server error iis or 64-bit. You can download VC++ runtime here at: http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=30679 When you install hotfix manually, administrator privileges are enforced and so the installation of VC++ runtime is automatically taken care by the updater. Are you telling me the whole QA team at Adobe are running their ColdFusion servers *as administrator" ?!? In direct conflict with their own guide ? Kai Koenig Oct 16, 2014 at 8:17 AM Yikes, truly. In all seriousness though and as sad as it is, it would probably reflect what the 99.99% of ACF users out there are doing :-(I assume the connector update essentially makes it on par with the CF11 update 1/2 connector. Wasn't there a connector update on CF11 update 1? I might be wrong - bit if it was, would this problem apply as well then? Rupesh Kumar Oct 16, 2014 at 9:30 AM To add to what KP said, you would see this issue only if the VC++ runtime 2012 is not present on the machine and the CF update is not able to install this library. VC++ runtime can be installed individually or can come bundled with many other softwares including Co

derping Aug 27, 2013 7:56 AM I have recently installed CF10 on a Win 2008 R2 server it will open the main pages (index.cfm) but if I try to browse to the links within the site I get http://blogs.coldfusion.com/post.cfm/resolving-500-internal-server-error-with-coldfusion-10-update-14 a 500 internal server error or 404 file not found. I have looked at a few articles in regards to creating a virtual directory named jakarta this works for only one site and seems to only work if I set that virtual directoyr to the wsconfig\1 folder. I am not familiar with CF by anymeans so if answers could be as rookie as possible. Re: CF10 500 internal server errors vishu#13 Aug 27, 2013 8:43 AM (in response to derping) Hi During ColdFusion 10 install, you might have Choosen ALL option during Configure Webserver. Which means, that ColdFusion handlers like .cfm, .cfc etc are added to the IIS (server level)Every website under IIS say there are 10 websites under IIS, then all these will be able to serve ColdFusion ( say .cfm) pages. In future, even if you add new sites, you need not to create connector using Web Server Configuration tool as well.To confirm handlers on server level in IIS 7, highlight server name (just above Application Pool in left panel) and then click on Handler mappings. If you are able to see ColdFusion handlers (.cfc, .cfm) just double click on any one of them and check the Exectuable path : C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.dllFolder number 1 in the above location shows that you have 1 connector configured with All websites. If you create individual connector for each site then there will be more folders like 1, 2, 3 and so on and when you check the handler mapping for individual site, handler of each site will show the executable path for it's own connector folder.Regarding the 404 error, frankly speaking you are the best person to resolve it in the e

500 null : Mysterious ColdFusion Error By Ben Nadel on June 14, 2006 Tags: ColdFusion When I first encountered the 500 null error it took many head-beating sessions to figure out what the hell was going on. The very nature of the 500 null error makes it hard to debug. This occurs (from what I can figure) when an error gets thrown so early in your application that nothing ever gets flushed to the browser. The "null" part of the error probably means that no data was received from the browser. In order to debug this error put a CFFlush tag right after your application declaration (Application.cfm) or somewhere very early in the code. Once you get the data stream going, you sort of let gravity take over (metaphorically speaking). Now, the 500 null error will be replaced with the CFError that is actually being thrown.CAUTION: Once done, REMOVE THE CFFLUSH. The CFFlush tag will kill of your CFLocation tags as they work via page headers (which are not settable after data has been sent to the browser).
