It appears that infinite loop driver recent updates to Nvidia video card drivers have agitated timing settings in some motherboards, causing crashes and an error that states the following:"The driver nv4_disp for the display device DeviceVideo0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates."Alternately, there are freezes and BSoDs. Check out more info on this problem at ViaArena, and also check out the petition to get motherboard makers to clean up their acts. Although Via had been targeted as an early culprit, the problems have apparently been reproduced on boards with other brand chipsets, Windows and Linux, and also with ATI's newest drivers. The one commonality, as I understand it, is graphics drivers pushing the graphics cards to the limit and presumably using more power than some motherboards can handle. Who is blamed? The petition targets motherboard makers, but this is one sticky issue. It's things like this that force some of us to buy an extra motherboard with no recourse in order to get a stable system. So much for interchangeable parts.
