connecting to an Informix Database Server troubleshoot connectivity -908 -25507 Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) How to troubleshoot common connectivity errors when connecting to an IBM Informix http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21393435 Dynamic Server™ instance. Symptom When connecting to Informix database server you can not https://community.hpe.com/t5/Databases/error-908-from-informix/td-p/3030768 successfully connect to IBM Informix Dynamic™ Server, getting errors such -908, -25507... Resolving the problem Connectivity errors are the most common errors when setting up client-server communications to an IBM Informix Dynamic Server™ instance. This document is designed to help you to troubleshoot the most common connectivity errors. The following checklist shows informix error the most important things you should consider on both, client and server machines, when troubleshooting connectivity errors: Is the server engine up and running? Is there any TCP/IP alias defined at the engine? This is necessary if the Client is not on the same machine where the server resides. Is the hostname (or IP-Address) used by the database server you are trying to connect well informix error codes configured? You can use hostname or IP-Address on the sqlhosts file to indicate which IP-Address would be used by the Database server, if using hostname it is highly recommended you include it on TCP/IP hosts file. Even when DNS are allowed, it is highly discouraged since a bad time response from DNS could lead to -908 errors or very high connection times to the database server. Is the service name used by the database server you are trying to connect well configured? When trying to connect to the database server trough a TCP/IP connection, the service used by the database server to listen the communication must be unique at that machine, you can configure the service at TCP/IP services file, when doing so, please ensure it is unique and it is defined as tcp. You can use directly the servernum on the sqlhosts file, but please ensure this service is not being used to listen for any other application. Is the sqlhosts file well configured? The sqlhosts file is the most important database configuration file for connectivity, it must be well configured in order to get the connectivity working. Please review the "Administrator&
