Informix Error Code 25580
demo or ODBC apply & test Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) -25580 error connecting via Informix SDK ilogin or connect test demo or ODBC apply & test Cause Configuration issue with the firewall on the Windows client, destination server, or on the local area network (LAN) Hostname resolution problem Service name resolution problem Diagnosing the problem If possible, temporarily disable firewalls involved to see if that allows the connection. Here are instructions for a Linux firewall: The firewall on the Linux box is enabled by default. To disable the firewall on the Linux box issue the following command: /etc/init.d/iptables stop usage: /etc/init.d/iptables [start|stop|restart|condrestart|status|panic|save] Use the destination ip address in your connection information instead of the hostname to test if hostname resolution is the problem. ping the hostname from the client. ping the destination ip from the client Use the destination port number in your connection information instead of the server to test if service name resolution is the problem. Resolving the problem If disabling firewalls allowed the connection to complete, then you'll need to determine what changes are required on the firewall to have it enabled but allow the connection. Several reasons a hostname might not resolve but it might not be known on the DNS or a setting that controls where the computer first looks to resolve the hostname are not set correctly. Could be a hostname or ip address typo. There are certainly more causes. If a service name is not resolving it is most likely a typo but there could be other causes. A system call has failed. For assistance, contact your system administrator or Informix Technical Support. I'm not familiar with ESQL/C nor with the CLI? that's used by it, but I would think debugging the application can pinpoint the specific system call that's made. But first I would check out the UNIX system log files immediately after the error occured. Then we have to choose the database again. We informix error code are running HPUX 11.11 and Informix - SQL 7.31.FC1 on a 64-bit machine. This seems to happen more frequently during heavy use. Does anyone have any idea why this happens and what can be done to prevent it?Thanks RE: Error 25580 dodge20 (MIS) 26 Feb 03 10:30 What is probably happening is that you are losing connectivity during heavy traffic. The next time this happens, use the ping command to check connectivity. If you get a failed ping, follow up with the traceroute command to find out exactly what's happening to the packets you send. This should help you locate what the problem is, whether it is the packets are being misrouted, or a network is dropping them, or most likely indicating that a gateway is down.
