Normally supporting the "next' erlang release https://github.com/Homebrew/legacy-homebrew/issues/18256 is pretty quick. This is a tad tricky; erlang R16 drops support for a language feature that one of our core dependencies mochiweb uses. Mochiweb upstream has been updated to support R16 but this hasn't been rolled into couchdb yet. I should start a fork on that next week https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-1598 if you want to follow it. @jacknagel when this is working it might not go straight into our coming 1.3.0 release. Can we point the recipe to a fork for example? tnightingale commented Mar 10, 2013 I am also having this problem. Details: https://gist.github.com/tnightingale/1913d8a51ab46e632d78 jodah commented Mar 10, 2013 I think I might be having the same problem. Not too sure. droplet at digitaloceans.com using ubuntu 13.10, becauseit is easy to install couchdb 1.4 on it as it's included in the softwarerepository. So I ran "sudo apt-get install couchdb -y" and as far as I remember http://grokbase.com/t/couchdb/user/13b9r4svbj/couchdb-startup-error-failure-to-start-mochiweb therewere no errors. But when I run "sudo -i -u couchdb couchdb" I get the error mentioned here:http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/Error_messages#Unavailable_Port. The pagesays: "Edit your /etc/couchdb/couch.ini file and change the Port setting toan available port"When I run "nmap -v www.arteigenschaften.ch" I get only one open port:22/tcp (service: ssh) and 999 closed ports.I'm a bit surprised that port 90 isn't open. But maybe that is becausenobody is listening yet?If I understand init terminating correctly the fact that port 5984 isn't open also meansthat no one is listening. But then why should I change to an available portwhen the problem is not the port but the listener? Would "not available"mean that someone else is already listening? But then the fact that port5984 is not "open" would mean that the problem isn't in the port butsomewhere else."ufw status" > "inactive". So init terminating in no firewall blocking (not sure if this wouldbe relevant for connecting to localhost)"sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 5984 -j ACCEPT" didn't helpI guess now is the time to mention that I'm a linux and ip noob. Surelythere's something glaringly obvious that I'm unaware of?In case it's any help: www.barbalex.ch/downloads/erl_crash.dumpAlex reply Tweet Search Discussions Search All Groups user 2 responses Oldest Nested Keith Gable There should be an init script.
