Get it booted somehow (fallback image might even work) and run mkinitcpio -p linux by hand. If you look in /boot you will see a set of files called vmlinuz* which are the kernels and also some initramfs* files and there should be one of each with the same exact version http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=54596 numbers. Everytime i try to load the OMV ISO (weather by usb bootable, or CD, or DVD) i get the first splash screen to decide how i want to install, then i choose install and it goes right to: kernel panic-not initramfs unpacking syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on block(xxx, xx). Forgive me for the "x's" i do not have that info in front of me at this time. I get it with different ram, different hard drive, downloaded the two different most recent releases (not beta's) I am confused, and tempted to try freenas. But i really like the demo of this program and really want it to work out for me. Running Dell core 2 duo with 3gb ram 1.8gHz on a SATA 80Gb HDD, onboard initramfs unpacking failed video (default) and serial disabled. HELP. Did you try to install a Debian Squeeze ISO? or Wheezy? Then you can install OMV on top. I am new to this type of linux, and any linux past Slack 5... I have not beenable to keep up with revisions due to family and life. I found it more important. But i am very eager to refresh and learn (basically) all over again. It is a simple install then install within? Is this a run on the fly to get OMV to installed? Pardon my silly questions, i just want to do this right and learn from it! Thanks in advance! You want to install the new version of OMV, and skip Squeeze? For OMV .5 you need Debian Squeeze. For OMV 1 you need Wheezy. I know Ryeco knows where a minimal install of Squeeze is at if you don't want to take much room with the OS. But 1st it is just import

Hope someone can help me. Since 3 days I am not able to boot my laptop with Fedora20. Everytime i got the error: Initramfs unpacking failed...and kernel panic. Problem occurs with kernel 3.12.6. If I use the older kernel 3.12.5 everything is working fine. Tried to reinstall kernel with "yum reinstall kernel" but I got the message that Installed package 3.12.5 and 3.12.6 are not available. Thanks guys! Code: # yum erase kernel-3.12.6 # yum update kernel Assumes you are not using kernel-PAE, but if you are, then give the correct kernel name.
