Input File Error Subtitle 1

subtitles with vitualdub Discussion in 'Subtitle help' started by phazeon, Jul 11, 2009. phazeon Member Joined: Aug 2, 2006 Messages: 20 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 I am trying to hardcode subs on to a movie and I was following the guide that is used here on afterdawn using virtual dub and the srt to ssa converter. The first problem I encountered was on the srt convertion for some reason it gives me the following message :input file error,subtitle #1however it then says job finished. i went ahead and converted it but i get nothing also i dont see the other formats in the guide here is a link to the guide im following if someone could maybe give me an update or another way to go i would apreciate it thank you.: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/adding_subs_to_avi.cfm phazeon, Jul 11, 2009 #1 attar Senior member Joined: Jun 17, 2005 Messages: 11,473 Likes Received: 25 Trophy Points: 128 'Subtitle #1' is the first sub. The numeral 1 followed by the time then the dialog. If a numeral is missing it will give an error - and a blank output file. But I do have another concern if you look at the guide it tells you to look under video to select the compression I did not see those options on the virtualdub that I have so I guess my question is does that vary by movie or am i missing a plugin. formats (like MKV).So here's my process, tested 100% to work with Anime fan subs and whatever you might be able to throw at it.Software you will need:1. VirtualDubMod - a modification of VirtualDub, incorporating many plugins into the original program.3. QuickTime Pro - used for decoding AAC files4. Advanced WMA Workshop* - you can use any other audio converter you prefer, i use this for converting from OGG and other audio files.5. VirtuaDub - the main man. Note, it is possible to use VirtuaDubMod instead, but i won't be covering that here.6. Subtitler - VirtualDub plugin for using subtitles7. Click ConvertIf you get the error Input file error, subtitle # 1, open the SRT file in notepad and change the encoding from unicode to ANSI.Step 4: Convert to DivX AVI- If you haven't, install LAME by right-clicking on the .inf file and clicking Install.- If you haven't, install Subtitler by copying the .vdf file to the Plugins folder of virtual dub.1.
