I figured it was more of a software/os question than the hardware, but input output error it seems to concern both. My MacBook (OS 10.4) suffered an 18 inch fall earlier and it has damaged the the harddrive. I have managed to boot it with the Snow Leopard Disc that I was planning on installing after I had backed up all of my never backed up files, but gravity seems to have gotten the better of that plan. When trying without the disk, I would get the typical grey screen with the flashing "?" file. I have run the disk utility and proceeded to verify the drive, which it did, and attempted to repair it. Reformat the disk and restore your backed-up files." My question is how do I go about this? I have at my disposal a new and unformated Lacie external drive, a formated and partitioned external drive with a bootable copy of my old powerbook (made with SuperDuper, which should also be on both the external and internal drives), with the other
