I have win 8.1 and task manager says IAStorSataSvc (32 bit) (intel rapid storage technology) is using 277.8 MB of memory (it was over 1,000 last night) and .4% of the CPU. My version is 11.50.1207 and forums indicate this version eats a lot of memory and the driver should be updated. How do I do tha

I had downloaded the drivers before-hand. My first issue arose http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/562070/how-to-update-intel-rapid-storage-technology-driver/ when the setup failed to detect the pre-install driver. Since, the HDD was visible, I continiued with the Setup. After installing WIndows, when I triied to install RST, I got an error message saying installation ended prematurely, as it doesn't support the platform. It is the latest 13.1.0.1058 version from the download center.Earlier, https://communities.intel.com/thread/52989 I was able to install the previously released 12.9.0.1001 version without any issues(both the F6 and the exe version),. I'm really sorry you are having problems installing the latest Intel® Rapid Storage Technology driver on your laptop.We have installed this driver in our system without problems. Please let me give you some recommendations:Uninstall the current driver version from control panel and install the latest one. Here you have the download link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=24006Since our driver is generic, I would recommend you to try the driver provided by Samsung.If the issue persisted, please try installing the previous version of RST.
