Dirk Van de moortel Guest Today I just stated experiencing some problems when playing DVDs with Intervideo's WinDVD. I always got a "Create Overlay Failed" error. I also couldn't play DVD's in my Windows Media Player anymore. Google didn't give me much.... reinstall this, reinstall that, but nothing really helped. After quite a long search I found this thread on this group: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati/browse_frm/thread/cdd040f46846ef33/ So I dug into DirectX and soon found that the problem was caused by a Remote Assistance session of Live Messenger. While a connection is active, DirectDraw Acceleration and AGP Texture Acceleration are both disabled. If this happens, you don't have to reinstall anything. Just right click desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot, and slide the hardware acceleration handle to Full again, OK, OK It solved the problem for me. Since the thread was not available for replies anymore, I decided to open this one, FWIW. Dirk's fix didn't solve my problem, but led me toward the solution. After searches for "PL4007" on INterActual's help site, I finally found a solution that worked for me. Turns out I had activated Net Meeting since I last watched a dvd on my laptop, and NetMeeting wasn't closing properly. I followed InterActual's fix (see below), but that still didn't solve my problem. Only after I clicked on the Net Meeting icon in my system tray to

It used to work now when I put in a disc my interactual player gives me the following warning: Quote: Error PL4007: InterActual Player is unable to initialize your DVD decoder for playback. Click “Help Online” (bottom button on the left) for information that will help you properly configure your system for DVD playback. When I try using windvd. I get the following error: Quote: Create overlay failed. Please lower your screen resolution or color depth and try again. I have lowered the resolution to no avail. These programs both came on my computer. An hp

2.0: "Error PL4007: InterActual Player is unable to initialize your DVD decoder for playback." Yet I have the recommended WinDVD installed. I also have PowerDVD installed, so I should have a decoder. I reinstalled both InterActual http://www.velocityreviews.com/threads/interactual-player-problem.265461/ and WinDVD to no avail. The only reason I'm trying to use it is to get the license for playing T2:EE WM9. I tried to open the T2 WM9 files directly but I can't get the license http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/210031/i-ran-combo-fix-without-supervision/ that way. Anyone knows a solution? Shawn, Jan 14, 2004 #1 Advertisements Lothar Guest I had the same problem, with WinDVD and PowerDVD installed. Some DVD utility programs seem to install their own custom decoders for their interactual error purposes which confuses InterActualPlayer. In my case the culprit turned out to be DVDDecrypter. After uninstalling and cleaning the registry from any references to that piece of software, InterActualPlayer worked again. Hope that helps.
