Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement rebeltaz Thread Starter Joined: Jan 31, 2008 Messages: 55 I am not sure in which category this applies, so I apologize if this is not the correct location... I am working on an HP G62 with a couple of issues. First is that I keep getting a "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" message at boot up. I replaced the CR2032 CMOS battery - which tests good under load, by the way - and tried to run the battery calibration under System Diagnostics (which I didn't really think applied to the CMOS battery anyway, but HP says it does so...) but I still get the same message. I also cleaned the battery contacts with a fiberglass brush. When I did the battery calibration, it just hung. That was on AC, so I tried it on battery and the laptop died after a couple of minutes - leading me to believe that the SECONDARY (EXTERNAL) battery is the battery that is bad, despite the laptops insistence that it's the primary battery... Second problem is that when I try to boot to windows "normally" it goes through the "starting windows" screen but then very QUICKLY flashes a blue screen and reboots. When I try to boot into the System Recovery software, it boots up to a blue-background screen with a mouse icon that I can move but the recovery software never loads, regardless of how long I let it set. Any ideas on either issue would be ever so greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. rebeltaz, Nov 2, 2015 #1 Sponsor TerryNet Terry Moderator Joined: Mar 23, 2005 Messages: 71,966 I'm not familiar with laptops that have both primary and secondary batteries connected (with most laptops you need to physically replace the depleted battery with the spare). Why do you think that it is really the secondary battery? Wouldn't the error code be 602 instead of 601? If both batteries are the same you could switch them and see what happens. Can you get into the BIOS and check to see i
