These are separate components which are buried deep inside the console so it's not a good repair for beginners as it requires completely disasssembling the PSP. The good news though is that it's almost always a relatively inexpensive repair at $59 including return postage and everything to send it in for professional replacement. If you have a PSP Slim 2001 or 3001 model it's a bit more complicated as the wi-fi is part of the motherboard rather than a separate PCB. Some are fixable and some require a whole new motherboard but quote's are always free so it doesn't cost anything to find out. Broken PSP Slims also have a better re-sale value than the 1001's so at worst it would be something to put towards a new one.
