I'm https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1272466-remote-desktop-error-an-internal-error-has-occurred able to connect to the remote server from other PC's with the same user account http://theether.net/kb/100004 but this PC is getting the error: Remote Desktop Error: "An internal error has occurred." Computer is running Windows 7 x64 The network is using a VPN back to the main location where the server is, and I'm able to ping devices on each network. One thing is that I can RDP to other severs outside of this network without issues, so to internal error me it seems like an issue with the VPN even though it's online. Has anyone had this issue before? It was working fine a few days ago. Tried a system restore, restarted the network equipment etc. Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Remote Desktop Connection "An internal error has occurred" Remote Desktop Error Error using Remote Desktop   13 Replies Habanero OP Justin1250 Nov 3, 2015 at 5:38 UTC Run sfc /scannow make sure mstsc.exe isn't corrupted. citrix internal error Also what version of RDP client? Further information can be gained by setting the following parameter in C:\Inetpub\Wwwroot\Citrix\MetaFrame\web.config: customErrors mode="Off" This gives the ASP.Net error: Server Error in '/Citrix/MetaFrame' Application. Access to the path "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files\citrix_metaframe\4e9a73f8\aa8a5133" is denied. Resolution This error occurs because the account ASP.Net is running as (v1.0 ASPNET/v1.1 NETWORK SERVICE) does not have access to the "Temporary ASP.NET Files" directory. To grant permissions use Explorer or run the following command: cacls "%SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files" /e /t /g "NETWORK SERVICE:F" This error has also been known to be caused by the "OfficeScan NT Proxy Service" in Trend OfficeScan 8.0.
