Internal error when I try to ipconfig Started internal error by Mabo19 , Jun 08 2009 11:26 PM Please log in to reply #1 Mabo19 Posted 08 June 2009 - 11:26 PM Mabo19 Member Member 19 posts Hello everyone, just signed up and looked through other posts on how to fix my brothers computers internet and a lot of you suggest doing the cmd/ipconfig commands resetting the DNS and what not. My problem is that I cant do that command, I get an error that states: internal error has "An Internal error occurred: The request is not supported. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help. Additional information: Unable to query host name." I don't know where to go from here. I don't have any driver CD's or anything and I'm not sure when this began. The computer shows that a wireless internet connection is detected, but I can't get online. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Matt 0 Advertisements #2 OpenOutcome Posted 08 June 2009 - 11:46 PM OpenOutcome Member Member 640 posts This error message occurs when TCPIP.SYS is removed or altered. I don't have any driver CD's or anything Unsure what you meant by that.. Do you have the Windows Xp Installation disk? -Jason 0 #3 OpenOutcome Posted 08 June 2009 - 11:54 PM OpenOutcome Member Member 640 posts If you do have the installation disk:Put the disk in the drive.Click Start > Run, type CMD and click OK.At the command line type: expand D:\I386\TCPIP.SY_ C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\TCPIP.SYS (assumes your hard drive is the C drive and your CD drive is the D drive, if not replace correct drive letter..)Reboot the computer. If you don't have the disk, it is probably possible to just copy it from a working computer, and put it on this one. Remember it's C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\TCPIP.SYS.Best Regards,-Jason 0 #4 Mabo19 Posted 09 June 2009 - 06:44 AM Mabo19 Member Topic Starter Member 19 po
