Solved Disk Issues Posted on 2011-01-05 Windows Server 2003 Storage Operating Systems 1 Verified Solution 10 Comments 3,434 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-22 I have two fiber attached SAN drives setup with multi-pathing. I came back from the weekend and in Computer Management the disks now show up as the screenshot shows. I have tried to re-initialize, also tried unpresenting and presenting the disks in the EVA. I'm about to uninstall multipathing and reinstall along with the fiber storport hotfix from Microsoft but I don't hold out much hope for that to work. The error when i try to reinitialize the disk in Event Viewer reads Internal Error - The specified plex contains disabled subdisks (C1000078). 0 Question by:dtabrown2 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 76 Active today Best Solution byarnold Check the zoning on the switch. Either the ports were erroneously disabled, or the association of the port to the correct LUN mapping may have been mistakenly changed. Check DrUltima's suggestion to make sure the issue is not on the SAN or along the line Switch, Fiber Connection, etc. Not an initialization of the drive could and likely would lead to data loss. 0 Message Author Comment by:dtabrown22011-01-05 The funny thing is I'm not sure why these are showing up...stuck in some wierd cache area in Windows? The LUNS show as healthy in the EVA...no problems and we haven't made any changes at all...Just came in one morning to work and it looked like this. In the EVA I have 3 disks presented to it. When I unpresent them, these disks still
by: [ date ] [ thread ] Date: Thu, 2 Sep 2004 00:52:50 -0700 I am just in the process of setting up a SBS 2003 system. When my system boots, I get a dmboot event 3 logged to the System Event Log. I've gone into Disk Management and it shows an 8Gb volume with no label and whose status is marked as Failed. There is also an 8Gb dynamic disk which is marked as missing and is shown as offline. When I attempted to reactivate the disk, it doesn't and I get an LDM event 2 logged with the following https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26717756/Disk-Issues.html message: INTERNAL Error - The specified plex contains disabled subdisks (C1000078) I think I've got an idea what has caused this.. We are up to now running SBS 4.5. A while ago, I purchased a Dell PowerEdge to replace the aging SBS 4.5 hardware. At the time we were going to use SBS 2000 and so I started building such a system. The system had http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/Windows/microsoft.public.windows.server.general/2004-09/0190.html this wierd M: drive which was used by Exchange 2000 and which I subsequently decided to disable as described in MSKB 305145 -http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx? scid=kb;en-us;305145&sd=tech When I rebuilt the server as a SBS 2003, although I reformatted my first disk C:, my second disk which contained an I:. S: & U:, I left alone. I think this is what is causing the problem - being dynamic disks, my second disk remembered the original configuration and so the system thinks that the original 8Gb M: drive should still be there. Now, the KB article says that if you want to restore the M: drive just to run "ifsdrive M:", but boy, I can't help but think this could screw things upbeyond repair. My gut instinct is that I am gong to have to blow the whole system and start from scratch (formatting the second disk along the way). Has anybody got a crumb to offer?
