I never had any trouble using Norton Ghost with this motherboard before when having a SATA drive connected to the PDC. But now when I have a drive connected to this controller I get the above error. Booting without the SATA drive and just the IDE drives work. The error message says exactly "An internal inconsistency has been detected" If this problem persists contact Symantec Technical Support at http://service.symantec.com" and the ttle of the message is "Internal Error 36000". Can anyone tell me how to save the error file to a usb flash drive or onto one of the IDE drives that are also connected to the motherboard ? I cannot save it to the A: floppy drive for some reason. There used to be a version just for servers, but Symantec discontinued it. This is from the properties - tools of each partition in windows. 2) Check that your network share is working before doing Ghost. Copy a test file to the networked drive. I hope this helps ! 0 Message Author Comment by:c_hockland2007-01-08 i will run the consistency check but in terms of a share it doesnt even go to that screen. Also i will try to create a standard boot disk , sa

We use XP and image by a bootable Ghost CD-ROM with images taken from an external HDD. I imaged a number of identicle PC's with no problem, however on one or two of these same machines, Ghost reached 99% before throwing up an error: Error 36000: Internal Inconsistency Error..... The strange thing is that, after retrying to image the machine a number of times, the cloning process eventually works and the machine is imaged fine. I have the logfile genreated below. ********************************* Date : Fri Jun 06 16:52:22 2008 Error Number: (36000) Message: A GeneralException occurred Version: 8.2.0.1117 (Aug 26 2004, Build=1117) OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build 2600) Command line arguments: Active Switches : AutoName PathName : 160201 Perflib_Perfdata_8dc.dat DumpFile : 2:1\AMS Protection Maint\Prote009.GHS DumpPos : -263526480 Last LFO Buffersize : 32768 Last LFO Path : Full Path : 2:1\AMS Protection Maint\Prote009.GHS Diskartition : 2:1 Drive Letter : C:\ Last LFO Filesystem : Native FlagImplode : 0 FlagExplode : 2 Operation Details : Total size.........30307 MB copied..........30273 MB remaining.......34 Percent complete...99% Speed..............2239MB/min Time elapsed.......13:31 Time remaining.....0:00 Processor exception Generated at HardExceptionHandlerWin32.cpp:264 Program Call Stack DiskDriveAccessNt::write DiskDriveNormal::write GhostDisk::write DiskWrite WriteDiskSectorsNoCache DiskCache::hitTheDisk DiskCache::HandleIO DiskCache::IO WriteDiskSectors WritePhysSectors WriteNTFSVolume NTFSWriteClusters NTFSWriteAttribute buildMFTRecBitmap loadMFT loadVol LoadNTFSPartition ProcessNTFSPartition CopyPartition ProcessAllPartitions CopyAllPartitions CopyFileToDisk CopyMainline AttemptOperation sub_ma
