I have changed the HHD to a 60Gig and it has worked ok the last time I re-installed. The funny thing is I also have An Advent 7007 Laptop and the recovery discs for that work fine in my 3209. (However, the program list is different) I have replacement recovery cds for the 3209 but still get the same error. My hdd drive light ceases to operate once the HDD kicks in on startup. Do you think this might be connected in some way? Any help would be useful. Thanks. I have used a 40gig HHD initially installed, a 60 gig HHD new and a 180 gig HHD both singular and partitioned. I have spoken to advent and have been advised (Quote) "something spooky going on there". I am suspect that the motherboard is on its way out or that perhaps advent aren't the best PC on the market. As error 27049 reports a HHD geometry mapping error and all PC's I have used automatically detect the HHD geometry when installing OS, I can only presume that
