The motherboard is an Asus P4S8X with an onboard Promise Raid Controller 376. I never had any trouble using Norton Ghost with this motherboard before when having a SATA drive connected to the PDC. But now when I have a drive connected to https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-ghost-2003-internal-error-36000-boot this controller I get the above error. Booting without the SATA drive and just the IDE drives work. The error message says exactly "An internal inconsistency has been detected" If this problem persists contact Symantec Technical Support at http://service.symantec.com" and the ttle of the message is "Internal Error 36000". Can anyone tell me how to save the error file to a usb flash drive or onto one of the IDE drives that are also connected to the motherboard ? I cannot save it to the A: floppy drive for some reason. It stopped at 97%, with an Error message: Internal Error 3600. can not write internal inconsistency into A:\GHOSTERR.TXT. on the top of the message it has File name 546. and Sectors 20704839 to 20704903 I did it again. Same situation came up. Please help me know how to resolve. Ghost 2003 Error Message « previous next » Print Pages: [1] 2 Author Topic: Solved: Ghost 2003 Error Message (Read 19186 times) Reed Member Posts: 153 Solved: Ghost 2003 Error Message « on: February 19, 2007, 04:14:21 PM » I am using Ghost 2003 with a:/ drive boot disks, to create an image of C Drive to another internal Hard Drive. I’ve done this at least 50 times before. The ghost program appeared to be working until it got about 95% completed, and then it came up with a file name? (546) message saying "Output error file to the following location: a:/ghosterr.txt". If I try to do anything, I get an error message saying "Cannot open Ghosterr.text - insert diskette (434). Neither of the boot disks helps the problem.I rebooted and the computer is going through some process of deleting and recovering orphaned files. This has happened before, and a total re-install had to be finally performed. I sure hope one of you guys has a suggestion. What is the reason my image will not complete? Thanks for your time,Gary Logged Caroline Lyons Administrator Member Posts: 1411 Re: Ghost 2003 Error Message « Reply #1 on: February 19, 2007, 06:47:17 PM » Welcome to the forum Is your floppy disk write-protected? If so, this would generate an error whilst attempting to write to the disk. Does ghosterr.txt exist on the floppy? If so, can you open it please and copy & paste its contents. It will give us more of an idea what's going on. We can never get at the root of the problem. Norton will not respend unless you pay their fee. Extortion! The only thing that has happened since my last ghost is the addition of some programs. The programs I'm referring to are added to a computer that never goes on the net. No access. It's used for recording music only. I remembered something being stated, to the issue that Ghost needs room on the "source" drive to prepare the "image" for the "destination drive". Having only 9GB left I've deleted some junk and got my Free Space up to 23.5GB. I'm performing a "Scan Disk" at the moment and will "Defrag" next and try to ghost again. What do you make of this? Thanks, GaryBTW: Below is a suggestion from the Froum at Norton: I don't know how to do it or what this guy even said.------------------
