Data Platform Development > ADO.NET Managed Providers Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I am using .Net Framework 2.0. And for accessing data Oledb data provider. This is used in a multi-threaded windows service. I am getting the following error on a select query. The stack trace is as follows.Internal .Net Framework Data Provider error 12. at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionInternal.CreateReferenceCollection() at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionInternal.AddWeakReference(Object value, Int32 tag) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.AddWeakReference(Object value, Int32 tag) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteReaderInternal(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand.ExecuteScalar() at File_Transfer.clsDataAccessObject.GetCellValue(String strSql) Saturday, September 16, 2006 6:47 AM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Errors like this usually occur due to multithreaded access of connections. You mention that this is a multi-threaded windows service. How do you manage your OleDbConnections? Are they declared locally within the methods where you need a connection, or are you sharing them at a broader scope? The OleDbConnection class is not threadsafe, so make sure you do not access the same connection from multiple threads at the same time. It's a good idea not to share connections across threads at all, even if you intend to synchronize access to them. It's better to just use them at the smallest scope possible, opening when you need them and closing when you are done. OLE DB connection pooling will take care of reusing the connections internally so that you don't introduce excessive overhead by opening and closing connections repeatedly. Mar 06, 2008 08:13 AM|sweetypie|LINK Hi, I have created an application in which there are few forms. Each form has fields which are linked to a backend table/tables. My application is supposed to be accessed by multiple users concurrently. I ran a test where I created http://forums.asp.net/t/1229756.aspx?System+InvalidOperationException+Internal+Net+Framework+Data+Provider+error+12+ a class file in windows application and i ran a for loop in it to call the url of my application. I wanted to test the effect of firing around 200 queries to my query engine. The test code is: namespace MachineGun { static class Program

It works quite well mostly, but http://www.dotnetspider.com/forum/272220-Internal-Net-Framework-Data-Provider-error.aspx it shows error like "Internal .NET framework data provider error 12" from time to time" when access to SQL server is tried. After this error, no SQL command internal net works until rebooting is executed. My guess is that it happens when multiple users try to access SQL server simultaneously. If anyone has solution for this problem, please let me know. Thank you.
