Locally I cannot reproduce it. I don't get such errors every day but I need to understand and fix it. From the logs I see that the piece of code where it happaned is: var transactionOptions = new System.Transactions.TransactionOptions(); transactionOptions.IsolationLevel = System.Transactions.IsolationLevel.ReadUncommitted; using (var transactionScope = new System.Transactions.TransactionScope(System.Transactions.TransactionScopeOption.Required, transactionOptions)) { this.DataContext = new BMDataContext();// DataContext; if (patientAdmissionID != -1) { PatientAdmission admission = queryAdmission(this.DataContext, patientAdmissionID); transactionScope.Complete(); return admission; } transactionScope.Complete(); return null; } The method calls queryAdmission that returns data from DB using linq to sql: private static Func

SQL Azure sporadically and unexpectedly. Any ideas? It happens intermittently when I create a new database via the CREATE DATABASE command and then connect. I am getting "Internal .Net Framework Data Provider error 6." after trying to a database I just created http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Intermittent_%22Internal_.Net_Framework_Data_Provider_error_6.%22/?TopicId=119192&Posts=11 using the command: CREATE DATABASE ******** (SERVICE_OBJECTIVE = ELASTIC_POOL(name = *****)); It doesn't happen all the time and is actually pretty rare. Should I be putting a wait in there to connect? https://twitter.com/brainded/status/720028879465816065 Thanks, @AzureSupport April 12th, https://disqus.com/home/discussion/thewindowsazureproductsite/azure_sql_database_connectivity_issues/ 2016 11:58pm Searching the web shows that this can occur with .NET framework releases prior to.NET 3.5 SP1. Can you confirm you have this framework release or later installed on the client issuing the requests? Thanks! Also, the application generating the error is built using 4.6 if that helps. If this is occasionally happening but only after the initial connection, then yes,it can take up to a few minutesfora newdatabase to become available. So either wait, retry on error, oryou can positively check the database exists by connecting to master on the server and querying sys.databases looking for the database and it's state_desc to be ONLINE. In general, you should always write your code to be resilient to lost or broken connections, timeouts etc.by retrying on error.
