PaddingtonC Kilo Poster Messages: 49 My Plesk 9.5.4 control panel running on http://forum.odin.com/threads/plesk-control-panel-displays-500-internal-server-error.260794/ Ubuntu 8.04 LTS the error " 500 - Internal Server Error" when I https://www.servint.net/university/article/how-can-i-troubleshoot-500-internal-server-error-issues-in-plesk/ try to view it in a browser. The websites on the server are working but its just an issue of going to the control panel. How can I resolve this? PaddingtonC, Jul 2, 2012 #1 Hostasaurus.Com Tera Poster Messages: 436 Reboot the server, or preferably just restart the Plesk web server software 'sw-cp-server' and internal server 'psa' services. I'm not familiar with Ubuntu but on RHEL you'd: /etc/rc.d/init.d/sw-cp-server stop /etc/rc.d/init.d/psa stop /etc/rc.d/init.d/psa start which will bring back up both of them. We see this regularly on 9.5.4 where Plesk just random starts giving 500 errors. I'm sure Parallels will just tell you to upgrade to 11 to fix the issue. Hi, there yesterday, i was trying to modify template of new hosts, but i seem did something wrong, i decompressed /usr/local/psa/tmp/default_skeleton.tgz, then mkdir tmp, since then, i can't log into my control panel. it always show 500 internal server error, i did ./bootstrapper.sh repair, but it doesn't help. then i found out that there are some error, when i trying to start psa here it is, 2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1000) the fastcgi-backend /usr/bin/sw-engine-cgi -c /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini -d auto_prepend_file=auth.php3 -u psaadm failed to start: 2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1004) child exited with status 1 /usr/bin/sw-engine-cgi -c /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini -d auto_prepend_file=auth.php3 -u psaadm 2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1007) if you try do run PHP as FastCGI backend make sure you use the FastCGI enabled version. You can find out if it is the right one by executing 'php -v' and it should display '(cgi-fcgi)' in the output, NOT (cgi) NOR (cli) For more information check http://www.lighttpd.net/documentation/fastcgi.html#preparing-php-as-a-fastcgi-progra

September 17, 2013 500 Internal Server Errors can be caused by many different issues. Check your browser Please be advised if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, it is known to display an Internal Server Error when there isn't one. Try using another browser first to eliminate this possibility. If you are using a different Browser, then it may be due to one of the following: permissions / ownerships of files, memory usage, coding (.htaccess, premature end of script, software specific). The next step is to determine which of these is causing the error. Check the memory Log in to your server via SSH and run a top command, which will let you know if you have maxed-out your memory. If it is near full or you are unable to do this due to a ‘cannot allocate memory' error, then you have likely found the issue. To resolve a max memory issue the server will usually need to be rebooted, especially if there is not enough memory to log in or run commands. Check the error logs If memory is not the issue, then the next step is to take a look at your apache error log. On a Plesk server this log is located in: /etc/httpd/logs/ Run tail -f on the log to view the log as streaming, and then refresh the page giving you the 500 Error. Once you have refreshed the page end your tail command via ctrl c. Take a look at the output of the log and it should give you more information about the error and what is causing it to occur.
