An "Internal Server Error" is an error that's happened within the web server attempting https://askleo.com/whats_an_internal_server_error_and_how_do_i_fix_it/ to show you an HTML page. It's typically a server-side problem out of your control. https://www.zivtech.com/blog/implementing-pound-varnish-lamp-setup-achieve-secure-http-acceleration //I'm trying to download software from a specific site. No matter what I try to download, I get this error message:
Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator webmaster@******.com and inform them of the time the error occurred and anything you might have done that may have internal server caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. How is this resolved? I'm very familiar with this error. I see it all the time when setting up or making changes to websites. The good news? It's not your fault. The bad news? There's probably nothing that you can do. It's the internal server error server's problem An internal server error is an error on the web server that you're trying to access. That server is misconfigured in some way that prevents it from responding properly to what you're asking it to do. Think of it like the web's version of a blue screen. 🙂 Something went so wrong on the server that it couldn't even tell you what the problem was. Aside from informing the site owner (which may or may not be the webmaster email address that's included in the error message), there's probably nothing that you can do to resolve this problem. That's because it's not your problem. The person who is responsible for the website needs to fix it. It's still the server's fault, but… Now, there are scenarios where you might have caused this. One issue might be if you saw a link in an email or webpage and rather than clicking on it, you copied and pasted the link in a web browser. If you accidentally didn't select the entire link and left off a few important characters at the end, you might see this message. Similarly, if you're typing in a URL from a book or other place and don't type it in exactly as it appears, you might see this message. Errors in URLs can indeed cause errors. To be clear, thPosted by: Laurence Liss In my previous post, I gave an overview of a high performance caching setup that facilitated SSL everywhere. This is important because one of the most widely used reverse-proxy caches for Drupal sites is Varnish, which doesn't support SSL termination on its own. Since that post, I gave a presentation at DrupalCamp NJ 2013. I presented the analogy I had developed previously and expanded on it. I prepared a demo in which I had a three server setup. One of the servers hosted the Pound reverse-proxy, one hosted the Varnish reverse-proxy HTTP accelerator, and one hosted my LAMP server with a Drupal site and another quick demo site to make it apparent when Varnish was working. At the end of my presentation, a number of people asked that I post the configuration files I used in my demo. We use Ubuntu Linux servers at Zivtech, so the instructions here assume such servers are being used. But the configuration files for Varnish, Pound, and Apache are standard across platforms (e.g., the paths may change, but the files themselves remain relevant regardless of your particular system). Set up the Apache server In my example, I have three servers. I've called them Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. These servers have the IP addresses 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, and 192.168.1.103, respectively. (Actually, I'll give another to Alpha because each SSL site should have it's own IP address.) Gamma will be the first one set up. It will be the Apache/PHP box. The setup here is the simplest because it is just a standard LAMP server. And I won't bother spending time discussing how to set up a LAMP server; there's plenty of other documentation out there. Once you get up and running, set up a Drupal site to begin testing. Also set up a simple PHP page to test the initial Varnish setup. Do this because Drupal is complicated. You need to ensure that the most basic case is working before trying to debug a more sophisticated case -- in debugging, always reduce. The basic page is easy:
