So if "Send Errors To Browser" is not working set also this: Error Pages -> 500 -> Edit Feature Settings -> "Detailed Errors" Also note that if the content of the error page sent back is quite short and you're using IE, IE will happily ignore the useful content sent back by the server and show you its own generic error page instead. You can turn this off in IE's options, or use a different browser. share|improve this answer edited Jan 21 '14 at 15:03 answered May 4 '10 at 13:43 Vaclav Elias 2,48621122 8 Error Pages -> 500 -> Edit Feature Settings -> "Detailed Error" Thanks!!!!! –Pablo Martinez May 11 '12 at 12:55 6 If it's still not working, disable friendly http error messages –Tim Partridge Feb 22 '13 at 18:53 If "Error Pages" is missing from your panel, ensure the feature is enabled: Turn Windows features on or off => WWW Services, Common HTTP Featu

The application connects to oracle 10 and fetches data. If the rows exceed 500 then Internal Server 500 error is shown in the browser. How to overcome this ? Is there any logs I can check to fine out this error. Is there anything i need to do on timeout parameters. Any pointers will be of great help. This should make them a little more helpful:) –Hank Jan 21 '13 at 10:14 2 Also > Default Web Site —> Click Error Pages properties and select Detail errors –Hank Jan 21 '13 at 10:16 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote If you have tried the methods above to see what kind of error you are getting and it is buffer related, then you need to increase the response buffer limit. in IIS 7, click on the website, click on ASP, click on limits properties, increase the response buffer limit and script time-out limit as well. Hope this helps. share|improve this answer answered Jan 23 '13 at 19:01 Hamada 1218 add a comment| Your Answer draft s

Pretty basic: Page 1 posts to Page 2... where it errors with an http 500 error. I put this little block at the top just to see if I could even get this far: <% '--test Response.Write "test" Response.End %> Nada - same thing, http 500 error It's been ages since I've done internal server error classic asp, so I've forgotten most of my debugging tips, but mostly it gets down to line-by-line sometimes. However, what I did above should at least display the string "test", but it won't. (I have turned off "Show Friendly Http Messages". In IIS 8 I have gone to ASP settings and set "Send Errors to Browser = True". I've got simple ASP pages working fine. I'm porting code from Windows 2003 over to 2012. And having to debug misc issues. The only place I see the error is in the IIS Log after a few minutes. That's way to slow to fix the errors, and it doesn't give much info. I'm running the browser on the remote server itself. Ideally want to get errors in any browser, not just IE. Added 02/25/2015 - it seems to work maybe 5% of the time.
