Syspro Crystal Reports Viewer Invalid Argument Provided
Asked by: Invalid argument for database Archived Forums C-D > Crystal Reports for Visual Studio (Retired) Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I have a report that is connecting to two different databases and retrieving data from a stored procedure in each. My problem is that when I try and crystal report viewer invalid argument provided set the destination of the database at runtime, I get the following error: Invalid Argument provided.Failed to open a rowset.Error in File C:\DOCUME~1\JAMES\LOCALS~1\Temp\temp_{5E8F9D66-6EFF-47E9-96F7-65D32A761DCC}.rpt:Invalid argument for database I have other reports connecting to the two databases and I am setting their destination at runtime with no problems. The only difference in this report is the fact that it is using stored procedures rather than tables directly. Strangely enough, when I set the designtime location of the database to be the location that i am setting it at runtime (i.e. point it to my live databases instead of my local development copy), the report runs fine - even though my code is still passing it logoninfo. My code for setting the logoninfo is as follows. //-------my code for setting the logoninfo--------- private void SetDBLogonForReport(ConnectionInfo db1ConnectionInfo, ConnectionInfo db2ConnectionInfo, ReportDocument reportDocument) { Tables tables = reportDocument.Database.Tables; foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in tables) { TableLogOnInfo tableLogonInf

Solved Crystal reports .NET - Invalid argument for database - When changing databases Posted on 2008-09-22 .NET Programming Crystal Reports DB Reporting Tools 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 2,857 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-07 We have some crystal reports that were created in Visual Studio invalid argument 2005 that have worked very well when they were linked to a Microsoft Access database. Our company's data footprint has grown and we have converted all of our production data to SQL server 2005. Changeing the data sources location inide the crystal reports designer is easy and fairly straightforward. However there is one report that I cannot get to run after I had updated the data sources location. The report has a connection to two tables and also contains invalid argument for a sub-report that is connected to the same two tables. The tables are almost exactly the same as the ones in Access that it was previously connected to. In fact, we used the Access to SQL converter to convert them. We have only added a few fields to it. Why is it that when I run the report in ASP.net it comes up with the error "Invalid Argument provided. Error in File (report).rpt: Invalid argument for database."? 0 Question by:jpwallen Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byjpwallen I seemed to have solved the problem by myself. Apparently there is some data in one of the tables (we have linked tables for the report) that was not found in the other table. I solved this by setting Go to Solution 7 Comments LVL 100 Overall: Level 100 Crystal Reports 94 DB Reporting Tools 31 .NET Programming 26 Message Active today Expert Comment by:mlmcc2008-09-22 Was the subreport created as a separate report then added? If so make sure you don't have the REIMPORT ON OPEN option set. Right click the subreport Click FORMAT SUBREPORT I think it is on the last tab. mlmcc 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:jpwallen2008-09-22 The re-import when opening check box is already un-checked. 0 LVL 100 Overall: Level 100 Crystal Reports 94 DB Reporting Tools 31 .NET Programming 26 Message
