Long story short, still haven't found a solution. One page referenced: Error while sending ( character with sendkeys in vbscript
Invalid Procedure Call Or Argument Vbscript Opentextfile
Here is my code: set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Return = WshShell.Run("C:\Downloads\software\putty.exe -load navstat") DIM date date = 301113 DIM tran1 tran1 = TAFFY set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile("C:\Users\Adrian\Desktop\Entries1.txt", ForReading) Do Until objFile.AtEndOfStream strLine = objFile.ReadLine If InStr(strLine, "JFK.GREKI3.MARTN..TOPPS") Then set indi = 2 set tran1 = TOPPS End If Loop What's going on: I am scanning a .txt file (Entries1.txt) for text strings. If they occur I need to set corresponding indi values (so when indi is used later as a variable it will use the correct #) and change the tran1 variables as well. For some reason I'm getting an error at: set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile The error is Invalid procedure call or argument Code: 800A0005 Help would be greatly appreciated. vbscript share|improve this question edited Nov 29 '13 at 23:31 asked Nov 29 '13 at 23:11 Adrian 2916 3 If you're getting the error at the line you indicate, all of the code beyond that is irrelevant clutter and can be removed from your question; it's meaningless, because execution

I came across an older VBScript that is used for communication and synchronization with Outlook. Somebody (not me) gets a strange error when running the script: Script: "Some path" Line: 286 Character: 9 Error: Invalid process or invalid argument Code: 800A0005 Source: Runtime Error in VBScript Now what I want to know is WHY that error occurs. Just a general interpretation of the error. But first here is the relevant http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21111695/vbscript-error-800a0005 code: Set refnum = open_outputfile(outputfileverz & outputfilename_short) If (errcode = 0) Then If (check_textfile(refnum)) Then refnum.WriteLine (strOutput) errcode = close_outputfile(outputfileverz & outputfilename_short, outputfilename_short, refnum) If (errcode = 0) Then If (logging) Then 'mit Protokollierung If (check_textfile(logrefnum)) Then logrefnum.WriteLine ("--- " & Now() & " ---" & crlf & outputfilename_short & ":" & crlf & strOutput) If (gBAbort) Then logrefnum.WriteLine (errtext(33)) ' Abbruch durch den Benutzer End if End If End If Else ok = false End If Else 'errdetails = outputfileverz & outputfilename_short wurde schon in open_outputfile erstellt ok = False End If End If Line 286 is: refnum.WriteLine (strOutput) There are of course two other functions involved (open_outputfile/check_textfile) but they only return a document reference and check if it is a valid reference respectively. Now I tried to reproduce the error and there is a problem: No matter what I do I don't get this error. I've tried empty references, empty strings, wrote all kind of variable types but I always get other errors. Can anybody tell me how or why this happens? vbscript share|improve this question edited Jan 14 '14 at 11:02 Qantas 94 Heavy 9,934134158 asked Jan 14 '14 at 10:51 Klerafukan 11 1 see if stackoverflow.com/a/17094903/603855 helps –Ekkehard.Horner Jan 14 '14 at 11:34 visualbasicscript.com/fb.ashx?m=103974 –Ansgar Wiechers Jan 14 '14 at 12:39
