SSL vulnerability in iPhone, iPad and on Mac OS X appeared in September 2012 - but cause remains mysterious as former staffer calls lack of testing ‘shameful’ Apple's SSL vulnerability is still active on Safari on Mac OS X as shown at the gotofail.com site. The fix, which is available now for both iOS 6 and iOS 7, is for a flaw which appears to have been introduced in a code change made ahead of the launch of iOS 6.0. The flaw also affects Mac computers running Mac OSX - for which there’s no fix announced yet, although Apple says one is “coming soon”. Update: the fix is included in OSX 10.9.2, which became available on Tuesday. There is also an update for Mountain Lion, though it’s not clear why as that wasn’t thought to be affected. The bug, and its discovery, raise a number of questions. Here’s what we do know, what we don’t know, and what we hope to know. (Apple declined to comment in relation to a number of questions we put about the vulnerability.) How can I check whether I’m vulnerable? Go to gotofail.com and see what message you get. If all is good you’ll get a green message. On an iOS device, you’ll get a warning to update. If you’re on a Mac, you’ll either get a green message (your system is safe) or a yellow message (in a safe browser pointing out that other apps could be vulnerable) or a red message (telling you to patch you
iPhone 3G - sync works! Posted on 20-02-2012 by MacManus.nl UPDATE : since October 2013, there have been reports that Apple appears to have stopped support of all @mac-accounts, so if using your @mac-account turns out not to work with the instructions below, try to solve it by replacing @mac.com by @me.com or @icloud.com since they're all pointing to the same iCloud-account [ thanks to all those reporting on this issue for pointing this out ] ------------------------------------------ thanks to ‘keithfromontario', I can now present you the solution to getting your iPhone 3G to work with iCloud : 1- delete any existing MobileMe accounts https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/feb/25/apples-ssl-iphone-vulnerability-how-did-it-happen-and-what-next from your iPhone 3G 2- set up MobileMe-mail using iCloud on your iPhone 3G : set up each mail account in Settings>Mail, Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>Other>Add Mail Account "Name" (Your first and last name or whatever you usually call yourself) "Address" (Your @me or other IMAP email address) "Password" (Your mail password) "Description" (Whatever you want to call each eMail account, e.g. "joe@me.com (iCloud)") Hit the Next button and wait for https://macmanus.nl/2012/02/20/icloud-and-the-officially-unsupported-iphone-3g-sync-works/ the screen with IMAP and POP buttons at the top. IMAP is selected by default. "Incoming Server" is imap.mail.me.com "User Name" is the first part of your email address before the @ sign "Password" you know "Outgoing Server" is smtp.me.com Hit the Next button and your account will be set up. Repeat for any other IMAP mailboxes you want on this device 3- setup iCloud Calendar syncing on your iPhone 3G : Settings>Mail, Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>Other>Add CalDav Account "Server" is caldav.icloud.com "User Name" is your iCloud username like joe@me.com "Password" is your iCloud password "Description" is whatever you want to call this account (e.g. "iCloud Calendar") Go ahead and click "Next" and the CalDAV account wil be set up BUT IT WON'T WORK (here is why: Although you think of your Apple ID as "joe@me.com" Apple in fact assigns a Unique User ID which is a string of numbers buried in the server address. The easy way to get at it is this: Go Settings>Mail, Contacts,Calendars> and click the name of the account you just created to open the settings so we can do one more edit. Click "Advanced Settings". Select and highlight the WHOLE of the Account URL beginning with https://p01-caldav.icloud/… ( FYI: In the middle of

The application connects iphone 3g to an API URL at https://api.serverdensity.com/1.0/ and all requests go through it. A user of the app has reported that they are now suddenly getting an error "untrusted server certificate". No other users are experiencing this issue (that I'm aware of) and I cannot reproduce it. The SSL certificate is a wildcard certificate on *.serverdensity.com. It is purchased from GoDaddy and is valid until May 2010. Further, the user is running OS 3.0.1, the time/date are set correctly on iphone 3g ssl the device and if he visits the API URL in Safari, it loads up correctly. Any suggestions for the cause of this? iphone ssl ssl-certificate share|improve this question asked Aug 22 '09 at 11:06 DavidM 13k307085 add a comment| 8 Answers 8 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote I had the same problem! Did you install there "Intermediate Certificate Bundle"? If you don't then you will get the untrusted server certificate on all mobile platforms (and some PC ones as well). Web Site Quote: Before you install your issued SSL certificate you must download and install our intermediate certificate bundle on your Web server. You may also download the bundle from the repository. Check out the GoDaddy SSL install instructions for your web server setup. The Intermediate Certificate Bundle can be found here. share|improve this answer answered Aug 22 '09 at 20:33 Shane Powell 7,62322841 right, but if that was the problem it should always happen. sounds like this is intermittent. –frankodwyer Aug 22 '09 at 20:40 When it happened with me, it was odd. It was working then it stopped working after a certain date. So it wasn't intermittent for me but it do go from working to not working without any real noticeable reason. –Shane Powell Aug 23 '09 at 6:02 1 Yeh, I did install the bundle and actually blogged about it too - blog.b
