This should cause the Apple logo to appear and then your iPod should re-start. Apple state that you may need to try this "a couple of times" before it works. If that doesn't work, try waiting for the battery to run down. If the "connect to power" message is displayed, it would suggest that the iPod is almost out of power. Okay then, let it run out! Once the battery runs out, the iPod will turn off. If it was "stuck" doing something, it can't now! In fact, it should be "unstuck" because there is no power to keep it "stuck". Only now, can you plug it back into the power. You may have to wait for up to 30 minutes before the iPod shows any sign of life. When it does, allow it to fully re-charge.Is the iPod working yet? Up until this week my Ipod has charged succesfully with my computer (which I'll admit can be tempermental with it's usb ports) but now all I see is an image of a battery with an alert symbol and a message that says either "Charging, Please Wait" or "Connect to Power." At first I thought it was my laptop https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/94304/iPod+stuck+on+%22charging+please+wait%22,+or+%22connect+to+power%22,+battery because my laptop no longer registers that my Ipod is plugged in (it usually asks if I want to scan for viruses) neither does Itunes or My Computer. I've tried to restart my ipod by holding the menu and select buttons which has always worked for me in the past but it won't restart it just flashes black for a half a second then returns to the screen with the battery. I've connected the Ipod to a wall outlet and that hasn't worked either (I have had this problem occasionally when attempting to charge with an addapter before). Incase my computer wouldn't charge it while asleep I've managed to keep my computer running for an extended period of time (opened word and left something pressing on one of the keys so that it was constantly functioning) all to no avail. I tunes occassionally recognizes that an Ipod is plugged in tells me it wants to update it and when i ok the updates tells me to unplug and reconnect my Ipod as it no longer detects it. I'm relatively certain that it's the batter
KinjaToggle Conversation toolsGo to permalink Today there was some buzz about a battery bug in the iPod classic. Since perceived bugs aren't always universal, or even widespread, we like to wait a bit before sounding the alarm. Well, this afternoon, when I plugged in an iPod http://gizmodo.com/312597/ipod-classic-may-have-battery-drain-o-bug classic that I swore was close to fully charged and saw the "Connect to Power" error message you can see above, I decided to dig deeper. Advertisement Sure enough, many, many http://www.fixya.com/support/t3507273-connect_power_error_ipod classic owners are experiencing troubles. On this Apple Support thread alone, 33 posts discuss the issue, with speculation about whether the cause is use of Cover Flow or even leaving the ipod nano clock display on (for as long as it lasts) when music isn't playing. Most people say the problem hit when they upgraded to 1.02, the supposed classic "fix."In my own circumstance, the cause couldn't be Cover Flow, because I rarely use it. (Sorry Steve!) It could definitely be related to the 1.02 update, as I had no problems until I updated. connect to power If you haven't updated to 1.02, you may want to hold off. If you have, some people recommend restarting it to get it out of its continuous battery-draining spin. Some people simply recommend taking it back to the Apple Store for a replacement. Advertisement Over the next few days or weeks, I will be paying careful attention to the classic's power consumption, and I encourage you to comment to this post if and when you experience similar issues. And Apple, I know you're listening: if, as we presume, this is a software problem, please fix it before thousands of poor bastards try to take their classics back to the shop.
