fields that have the class .required: $('form').each(function(){ $(this).validate(); $('.required').each(function(){ $(this).rules('add',{ required: true, messages: { required: "This field is required" } }); }); }); However, when trying this in Firefox, Firebug gives me the following error: TypeError: t.data(...) is undefined This is within the plugin itself and not my code although I believe that when my code makes a call to this plugin the plugin cannot handle the way it needs to be executed. Has anyone else encountered this error? My form is currently a mixture of text fields, drop-down menus and radio buttons all with the same class of .required. Unfortunately I cannot change the HTML as it is dynamic and built into our underlying system (so it is generated using PL/SQL procedures). Unfortunately I cannot post a link to the form in question as our system would require you to login however I can try and replicate it in a fiddle if the code above is not enough to go on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Jason Espin EDIT: If it helps,

Try this: $(document).ready(function () { $('#reservationForm:visible').validate(); $("#adult1Birthdate").mask("9999-99-99"); $("#reservationPersonBirthdate").mask("9999-99-99"); $("#adult1Firstname").rules("add", { required: true, minlength: 2, messages: { required: 'Pole wymagane'} }); $('a:not(#regionDetails)').click(function() { $('div:not(#regionDetailsArea)').hide(); $($(this).attr("id").replace("regionDetails", "#regionDetailsArea")).show(); return false; }); }); share|improve this answer edited Feb 19 '12 at 3:52 answered Feb 19 '12 at 3:23 Blender 153k23227320 ok, I

[jQuery] [validate] Trouble using rules( "add", rules ) as well as setting attribute for range validations in Using jQuery • 8 years ago I'm working on a server-side component that will generate all of myjQuery validation rules from xml metadata, so I'm trying todynamically add rules one at a time.My first attempt was to use the rules( "add", rules ) syntax, but I'mgetting an error on page load:jQuery.data(element.form, "validator") is undefinedHere's the syntax I'm using:$("#VerifyPassword").rules('add',{equalTo: '#UserPass'}); which seemsto be correct according to the docs.So, I decided to try setting attributes instead, which works fine forthe equalTo. For example, this works:$("#VerifyPassword").attr('equalTo','#UserPass');But when trying to use attr to set a range I cannot figure out what topass in for the range.I've tried:$("#UserPass").attr('rangelength','[5,10]'); -> yeilds the message"Please enter a value between NaN and 5 characters long."$("#UserPass").attr('rangelength',[5,10]); --> yields the message"Please enter a value between 5 and NaN characters long."var theRange = [5,10]; $("#UserPass").attr('rangelength',theRange); -- Reply Replies(11) joern.zae..
