I'm getting a javascript error "ColdFusion is http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17069969/element-undefined-error-in-coldfusion undefined" and the the cfajax tags do not work. We have a production-stage-dev enviroment with 2 production servers. I get the error on 1 production server but on the other it is working. I also get the error on the staging server but on my local dev machine everthing works fine. From Googling on this error I was unable to find much however I did find one other person who https://forums.adobe.com/thread/59555 was haveing the same issue and the metioned that their hosting provider had quickly fixed it through a mapping setting. However they did not post the solution. I'm hopin there is someone out there that can shed some light. My guess is it's some sort of mapping issue to the CFIDE. I've checked all our servers and the mappings for the CFIDE are exactly the same on all. Quick help would be appreciated as we have a new cf8 ajax application that was just completed that needs to go into production asap. Re: ColdFusion is undefined error Jighead52 Oct 3, 2007 7:55 AM (in response to Jighead52) Hi, Solved my own problem. Checked the pathing to the /cfide/scripts/ folder in the cfadmin settings. They were different on the 2 servers that were not working correctly. When upgrading from our cf7 install the server settings were migrated to cf8 and we had a different path to the cfide for cf7. Apparently those 2 servers did not get the pathing change modified for our cf7 install. Hope this helps anyone who may run across this. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: ColdFusion is undefine
♦ ♦ | Report Content as Inappropriate ♦ ♦ Coldfusion is undefined I have been trying to help http://house-of-fusion.10909.n7.nabble.com/Coldfusion-is-undefined-td50454.html a host provider who hosts one of my clients websites with http://blog.mattwoodward.com/2007/06/cf-8-is-not-defined-javascript-error.html troubleshooting this error. If you look at this link with IE: http://testing.mellinaassociates.com/test_richtext.cfm you will see the javascript error when you doubleclick the javascript error in the bottom left corner. The only difference between that page and this page: http://testing.mellinaassociates.com/test_no_richtext.cfmis richtext=true as a parameter is undefined in the textarea. The ISP says the "cfide" is in the mapping in coldfusion administrator. They also say they have a virtual directory pointing at the CFIDE directory pointing at the INETPUB pub directory on the windows server the site is on. They have verified that the AJAX directory exists. Any suggestions on what to tell element is undefined them to try next? Thanks in advance for any help. you put things in non-default places, but I was trying to use the new HTML cfgrid tonight and all it would show me is what looked like an
where the grid was supposed to be. So I fired up FireBug (which as much as I'm hating Firefox these days is still an indispensable tool) and got the error "ColdFusion is not defined."Turns out that based on how I had Apache and the rest of my machine set up, there was no alias that would allow the web server to get to /CFIDE from the virtual host I was using. A simple addition of Alias /CFIDE /Library/WebServer/Documents/CFIDE took care of the issue. Just blogging this in case anyone else was mystified by it.CommentsI had the same error,I cant underastand what you actually mean by this, there is already a mapping to my cfide folder.can you give more detailsPosted by Bibin Antony @ 10/4/07 11:27 PMThis doesn't have anything to do with CF mappings, it's a directory alias issue. If you're on Apache do as I outlined in the blog post; if you're on IIS, add a virtual directory called CFIDE to your site and point it to your CFIDE directory.Posted by Matt Woodward @ 10/5/07 11:50 AMSetting up a virtual directory to the CFIDE folder does exactly the same thing as mapping the folder in CF only mapping it gives access to that mapping from a global level. If it is mapped in CF, there isn't a good reason why one should have to use a virtual directory in IIS.Posted by RoninKrys @ 4/1/08 1:55 PM@RoninKrys--not true. If the non-CF code needs to be able to hit /CFIDE to get at things like the javascript files, then having a mapping in CF doesn't do you any good.Posted by Matt Woodward @ 4/1/08 2:07 PMI was also having the same issue. I messed around with it and discovered that if I added my cfwindow tag back into my code, - - the error went away and it's working again.Posted by Chris Bruso @ 7/24/08 7:24 AMThank you. Worked as you directed. I have a local development in Apache and a production in IIS. I already had the virtual directory set up in IIS; Apached was throwing me.Posted by Jennifer @ 12/1/08 9:43 AMJust add the Ajax Library ...That's all ...Posted by Edward Beckett @ 4/17/09 8:46 PMOn Apache Tomcat I've managed to make it work by adding to WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/neo-runtime.xml something like:/NAME_OF_WEBAPP/CFIDE/scripts/Posted by Pedro Martins @ 7/17/09 3:58 AMMatt, your blog isn't allowing the entire code to be seen, so i'm replacing by ( and ) ...(var name='CFFormScriptSrc')(string)/NAME_OF_THE_WEBAPP/CFIDE/scripts/(/string)(/var)Posted by Pedro Martins @ 7/17/09 4:01 AM Posted by Matt Woodward at 3:24 PM Label
