You are actually at the "about:newtab" url. If you run your code in the console for a page where you have non-xul content loaded, you should get an error. Chosen solution This sounds that you have an outdated extension that tries to access a software interface that is no longer supported in the current releases. You will have to uninstall this extension and see if you can find a replacement that work in current releases.
