iSCSI/BOFM error when enabling iSCSI HBA on HS21 NICs 14 replies Latest Post - ‏2009-04-17T21:54:14Z by SystemAdmin Display:ConversationsBy Date 1-15 of 15 Previous Next sgadsby 10000029BA 20 Posts Pinned topic iSCSI/BOFM error when enabling iSCSI HBA on HS21 NICs ‏2008-08-22T08:18:17Z | Tags: Answered question This question has been answered. Unanswered question This question has not been answered yet. Hi, I am trying to configure the onboard NICs in an HS21 as iSCSI HBAs. I have enabled iSCSI Initiator in the blade BIOS, run a BOFM configuration on the chassis, and setup the HBA using the iSCSI Configuration Manager. However the net result is: Attempting iSCSI Connection 00180100 00000000 iSCSI/BOFM error Unfortunately I cannot find any additional logging, so I am unsure if I have a problem with a) BOFM, b) iSCSI Firmware config, c) iSCSI Target config (DS3300), or d) other. I have verified that all the BIOS versions etc are at the latest versions. I've been wondering whether I should reload the BMC Firmware or something to see if that will reset something I may have done wrong... clutching at straws. Can anyone point me in a helpful direction? Thanks Alexander, I had not read that. However I got the error originally, which is what lead me to first configure BOFM. Setting up BOFM however had no effect. I have now disabled BOFM and unfortunately I still get the same error. Interestingly the MAC addresses set by BOFM have stuck on the HS21 NI

POSTBIOS: 00182100 000000Q 00182100 00000000 iSCSI/BOFM error The solution was to update the HS21 Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) firmware as well. I came across this. I am very interested in this, as I just got of the phone with an IBM support guy (PartnerWorld) who said it could not be done with the onboard NICs. And that discussion was about one rev up (Chassis H, with JS21/HS21 blades). He said we had to get additional add-in iniator cards (at that point, what is the cost difference with going with HBAs)?IF you would, please send me back email siryoda a@t gmail d0t com. From what I read of the pdf I downloaded from this page, it is a bit confusing. Thankfully, this would not be a large setup so installing from cd instead of creating boot images (which
